New poster to your board. I come in peace.

Any of you folks making the trip to Lawrence for this showdown? If so, welcome!

I think you will enjoy Allen and Lawrence is a great town. Grab a Freestate beer and have some Rudy's pizza.

Hopefully our Jayhawks can do a little something about that 22-6 mess. I like our chances, but you guys are, once again, stacked.

Really looking forward to Ulis V Mason. Ulis is the real deal, but Frank continues to surprise. He really is very good. Could certainly improve court vision and pass more after driving, but Maybe that will come now that he has more legit guys to whom to pass.

Thanks for coming in peace and being so respectful.

That said, I hope we beat you guys worse than last year... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Welcome aboard. KU looked pretty good at the World Games and they didn't have their full complement of players. I look for a good game in Lawrence in January. Both teams should be starting to round into form by then. Will be a great atmosphere. As far as your guard play, I think Vick will see some more PT as the season progresses allowing Graham to play point spelling Mason. I think offseason hip surgery is gonna hamper Greene. Up front, Mickelson will get some PT early but will be supplanted by Diallo. Perry Ellis should have a good senior year now that he has his AARP membership (I kid). Traylor is an energy guy but is lacking an offensive skillset. Look forward to the late January tilt.

Thanks, but I'm in the group that hopes to NEVER SEE JAMARI TRAYLOR AGAIN!!

Love the fellow and appreciate his back story, but he is an absolute liability on the court. I will simply never understand Coach Self's eagerness to play him. Baffles me.

Should be a good game. Look forward to it and I appreciate the welcome.

For the other poster who called me whatever, I don't deny hating Kentucky. Never doubt that I do. When you all play Mizzou, I actually root for Mizzou. And that hurts.

But you have really knowledgeable fans and TALK BASKETBALL! I appreciate that.

I won't flame or troll. But we WILL disagree from time to time.

Not about Duke or UNC though. On those, we are simpatico.

UK all the way against Mizzou. One of the easiest decisions as a KU fan. UK always has a team in the mix and passionate fans. That's always welcome in my book. Hell, as much as I hate to say it I'd hope for Duke over Mizzou.

Well, I wasn't expecting this.

Kiimo, you gonna let this guy get away with that? There was some telepathic momma joke in there.

Nope. I respect Kentucky. Hate Mizzou, but they are so laughable now.

I don't like Coach Calipari, but he is a proven winner.

Give me Coach Self every day though.

I get that, but why you dissin' Kiimo man? I read your subliminal comment about his family. Bro, you must have ice in your veins..

I appreciate all of you friendly Kansas fans. Before Cal turned the Phog forum into a dark cave of envious gollums grumbling angrily over the hobbitses, if you polled online UK fans on their favorite other program/fanbase besides UK, at least 80% of the answers would've been KU.

The sentiment was entirely respect and admiration from our side before they started having tribal ceremonies around a fire every night to crap on our coach.

Hall of Fame Induction in Sept for John Calipari ...

72-40 ...

Hey jayhawkers, what is the ticket situation there? How hard to get a ticket? That would be an awesome game to catch the Cats.
Go Big Blue

I've been coming here since that was the case, those were the days. But too many young KU fans switching their hate from MU to UK, for misguided reasons. I want to beat Kentucky, why wouldn't I? You think I like seeing us getting embarrassed?

But that's no reason to root for filth over UK. One team burned our team by 30 something last year. The other burned our city. That's blood feud. And yes I have two degrees from Kansas as well.

UK is a rival who beats us regularly with a coach who used to be part of our program and he beats us regularly in both recruiting and head to head and it is frustrating. But Missouri is garbage that rarely beats us and we don't even play anymore but that's no excuse. Root for MU over Kentucky? Learn some history, son.

I see why you're filled with so much hate then. Kentucky fans only burn couches. We don't burn cities.

I don't have season tickets, so I'll be going the StubHub route. I checked prices about a month ago and they started at $500. I would think the prices would come down considerably the closer we get to the game. I think it's too early to tell how many season ticket holders are going to sell. If both teams turn out as advertised it'll be a pretty hard ticket to get. The overwhelming positive is there's really not a bad seat in the house.

Trouthound? Is that anything like a trousertrout? And Kimo, your degree's aren't in AFAM are they? Communications? did you attend while Roy was coach? Nuff said.... :)

And the Jayhawkers never raided Missouri? Learn some history, son.

Would love to get to Allen Fieldhouse sometime. Hear Lawrence is a great town and Allen is obviously as good as it gets in college basketball.

Should be a helluva game, too.

Just curious as to why you don't like Coach Cal? It's understandable (and human nature) to not like someone because they are on top and Cal has won a lot on the court and in recruiting. Then there's the incorrect assumption that Cal has been involved in any academic scandals (proliferated by media). But other than that, he seems to be a great guy and philanthropist (raised over 1 million for Haiti, he and his players routinely visit hospitalized patients, etc.).

Even more lame. This Brian guy is a walking, breathing failure in life.

Keep trolling each of my posts, you have proven to be an immature idiot several times on this board.

Like someone said about you just yesterday... internet tough guy, hiding behind a screen name. And one that I bet is not true.

I know the history man. I taught history. I get Quantrill and all that. Even read the plaque outside of the Freestate telling how John Brown spoke there. (In the street).

But good lord man, 1863 was a long time ago.

Outside of Kansas' progressive/socialist era, Missouri has elected as many or more Democrats to Congress than has Kansas.

They are backward. Our political choices make us MORE backward.

Kentucky, I assume is off the charts backwards, but could be wrong.

Nope. Looked it up. McConnell and Rand Paul seal the deal. Not more backwards, but equally as backwards as Kansas.

I know my history "son".

It is simple and been said many times before, so I apologize if I bore.

I am a fan of college basketball. COLLEGE BASKETBALL. I don't really care for the NBA.

Coach Cal really started the College is only there to get kids to the league thing.

Before you go bonkers, I realize that other coaches, including Self and K have adopted the same philosophy.

But Coach Cal started this nonsense. Others HAD TO FOLLOW, or get killed by a phenomenal team of one and dones at KY most years.

He changed college basketball. And in my opinion, he changed it for the worse.

We used to have team loyalty and kids we knew and saw grow in the program. We came to love those kids and cared about where and how they ended up.

Our 2008 championship team had some real freshman trainwrecks on it. Mario couldn't pass it to himself without it being stolen and Russrob wanted to transfer.

Many of our fan posts are about upcoming recruits. Don't you all miss the days when it was about THIS YEAR'S team?

Not to put too fine a point on it, But Kentucky ****ing basketball has a rich tradition, AS KENTUCKY BASKETBALL.

As does KU (and until recently, UNC), and Duke.

It bothers me as a fan of college basketball as a thing unto itself, that we elites have become nothing but an NBA D League. KU and Duke included. Now.

To answer your question, and sorry for long response, I don't like Cal because he started it in the modern era. Apologies to John Wooden. But he cheated. I don't think Cal does........anymore. He doesn't have to. Kentucky sells itself.

I LOVE COLLEGE BASKETBALL.

The NBA changed college basketball by making players be 19 and one year removed from high school ball, not Calipari. Do you want Cal to recruit worse players? Or lie to one-and-done caliber players and say they're not ready for the league and try to hold them back? We as fans may not care about the NBA, but Cal cares more about the players he coaches than his legacy or the fans. If the players believe they are ready to make the next step, he supports them, even when he advises them to return (Teague, Goodwin for example). We fans love college basketball, but practically every young basketball player loves the NBA, and that's their dream. And it's okay.

I don't mean to attack you, Trouthound. I'm just showing you another perspective to examine it from.
