Combine Test Results

His shuttle run was pretty good as was his lane agility... but ouch... unless I overlooked something, he had the shortest standing vertical leap (22.5 inches), shortest max vertical leap (25.0 inches), and longest time in the 3/4 sprint (although not by much).

Thought I saw someone say those measurements were the lowest in 15 years or so..

Anyone have the numbers from the UK combine? Very interested to see how they match up.

Everyone knew he was a terrible athlete. Some other guys tested out surprisingly bad, at least for jumping. Tyler Harvey, Tyus Jones, Quinn Cook, Sam Dekker, Bobby Portis, Delon Wright. Frankly shocked at how bad of a leaper Dekker and Portis are

Booker had the fastest lane agility and shuttle run times.

Dakari was also the heaviest player there so the numbers aren't too surprising. The fact that his body percentage isn't too high for his weight is good.

Love the guy but I don't see Dakari being drafted. He may have to look to Europe or Asia.

Just looked up some other players....Andrew and Aaron's #'s also seem a little overstated at the UK combine

Not surprised these guys did better at the UK combine. You see the same thing in college football, where guys can never run the same 40 time at the NFL combine that their schools claim they ran there. Just something about having those hometown timers and measurers I guess...

This year's highest vertical went to a white guy and lowest to a black guy. So much for stereotypes.

Speaking of Connaughton, I'm kinda surprised to see him at the combine because I thought it was pretty much a forgone conclusion he'd be playing baseball professionally. Did he change his mind about that?
Just because he is going through the combine doesn't mean he has eliminated baseball.

I thought Dakari's 34" max vertical that was reported from the UK combine was pretty suspect.

Let's be honest, 34" is a pretty impressive vertical leap. And it was prett easy to see Dakari was not an impressive leader.

Justin Anderson's numbers are impressive man just wow. But Dakari is lookin slow and flat footed. He's a better player than that. Wish he woulda stuck around this year he would've gotten so much more PT and improved his stock.

I'm not sure he would have gotten a lot more PT. This is Skal's team at the 5. I think DJ would have got about what he did last year, 15-16 minutes per game.

Announcers comments indicated he'd rather play bb if he could make good money. Looks like he'll be a factor in whichever sport he chooses.

I respectfully disagree UK8. DJ would be a junior w/ 2 FFs worth of experience and assumed improvement this summer. I'm not buying that he wouldn't see more floor this year. He may even start w/ Skal. A lot of ppl thought Willie wouldn't see the floor as much w/ Towns on the team but these freshmen have to grown a bit. May end up Skals team but as of now it's Tyler's

As suspected, the UK combine results were fabricated

Fabricated is too strong a word. Achieved under optimal conditions would be better.

It's hard to compare UK combine numbers to NBA combine numbers because the other players around the country weren't measured at UK.

I didn't look very closely at the numbers, but Booker's speed seems to have held up pretty well. I know that was one of the things that jumped out at the combine.

FOCUS ON THE NEGATIVE

Exactly, man you would think these guys are making fun of a UL player or something??

Pitino coined it best during his tenure here when talking about a lot of our fans, and it's only gotten worse - "Fellowship of the miserable".

Nothing like focusing on NBA draft combine measurements. Haha. Kevin Love and Blake Griffin had the same max vert at their respective combines. Haha

No guarantees in life but I believe Dakari gets drafted. I could see him in Boston or Philly and hangin in there. You have to admit the kid puts in work. He leaned up and got faster. I think he will bulk back up and be a Perkins type player.

Well..... that explanation works better if it's just a slight difference, but not quite as much in this case. I've a hard time believing Dakari ever did a legit 34" vertical under any conditions that didn't involve a trampoline under his feet. Dude simply cannot jump. I suspect he might've got some hometown help there from whoever was doing the measuring at the UK combine.

I doubt they would have fudged it too much and open themselves up to ridicule.

Maybe they let him get a little more of a running start than they should have. Or maybe he's nursing an injury.

But whatever. Wish for his sake he had performed a little better, but I don't see any point in picking at the kid.

I don't think he is nursing an injury, the reason I say that is when have you ever seen Dakari show off that 34" verticle in a game? All I have seen is him being flat footed and getting his stuff thrown by little guards cause he can't jump.
When you have a guy who is 6'4" and has a 40" verticle he is able to negate a lot of the height advantages that a big guy like Dakari has. That is why his junk gets thrown so much.

from the combine report on Johnson

"
Overall: Johnson is never going to be a big scorer, but he has already been a productive role player at the college level and could play a similar role in the pros. He's got a combination of size and strength that you won't find in many prospects, but he's still very raw both offensively and defensively, lacking a decent post repertoire, range, and defensive rebounding ability ... He may struggle in a league full of centers his size, but he could also find a spot as a backup big man for several years to come...

Their words not mine

The vertical numbers by the twins did not exactly blow me away. Both were in the twenties for their standing vertical. I never thought that either played as big as their size at UK and now I understand why. Their lack of athleticism is going to really hurt them in the draft. They are not great jumpers and lack quickness. I do not see the NBA thinking that they have a lot of latent potential.

Dude,
Not too many people are going to throw Dakaris' junk around and get away with it.
