I don't buy it for a second.
Also I think our staff is smarter than this suggests. If we really outspent everybody, we made some odd decisions.
Otoh if we stayed pretty thrifty with a decent budget but not a worldbeating one, I think we did quite well.
Now, I'm willing to believe we had more money than UCLA, for example. I could totally believe they spent more money on Dent than we spent on any one player, so for example they got that guy over us even though overall we had more money to spend. We turned that money into a better overall roster even if we don't have any single guys as good as Dent (except probably JQ but word is he came at a discount so not relevant).
If we really had $20 million dollars overall though, I frankly don't think we spent it very wisely. But I think we're a lot smarter than that. And somewhat poorer.

Come on everyone knew about it's just the NCAA looked the other way in a lot of cases.
