College basketball is unwatchable?

My passion for the sport, especially over these last few years is all but gone. I still love my Cats, but the days of staying glued to the TV watching all of the other NCAA games for what used to be my favorite time of year seems like a thing of the past. Other games are on just as background noise for me.
I'm recording the games from here on in and will start watching after 45 minutes. Skip the reviews, time outs and halftime and that will sign me up for just over an hour of this. 2 and 1/2 hours of pain doesn't work for me anymore.

It is unwatchable…we’re watching the death of college basketball unfold right before us. From NIL deals, transfer portal, and now horrible officiating; the ratings will dwindle and eventually so will the money.

This isn’t just a UK issue, this is occurring nationwide. I used to enjoy watching other teams, especially when it was fun to watch. Now I’d rather watch paint dry than what’s on TV now.

Yup. I'm just tuning out more and more. So are my friends. Our mediocrity the last 6-7 years combined with blatantly awful officiating has really stolen my love of watching UK or basketball period. When I'm not working I'm out on my court shooting every chance I get.

I’m honestly curious if ABC intentionally pulled the plug today. Or if they at least decided not to return in favor of hockey.

Can’t remember the last time a game just went completely dead air for that long.

I largely tuned out after 2017 with rooferee, followed by UNC being let off the hook for decades of cheating.

I still love Kentucky basketball, and I’m giving the Pope era a fair shot. But the referees take a lot of the juice out of it.

Miss having a basketball goal in the driveway. HOA’s are a pain.

Pretty much all American sports, entertainment and popular culture has been absolute dog shit the last 10+ years. It's all about money. Money money money. Everything is bland and subpar. NIL sports, men tucking their weiners on RuPaul's drag race and astronauts stranded on a deteriorating space station. Everyone seems to be coasting.

Yep, that's where it largely started with me. I've agreed with you wholeheartedly about officiating since you began posting about it. I've literally prob liked every post about it you've made.

Damn you can't have a goal in the driveway? Crazy. I've got a full half court of concrete with a painted lane, 3 point line and half court line with a fence around it. It's like meditation for me. Just get lost in shooting.

I can have one, but it has to be removable and I don’t really have a good spot to place it if I’m not playing, since the garage is full.

Could put it around back I guess, but seems like a lot of work.

Definitely a disadvantage of Florida life.

I played full court for 35 years , at least 3 times a week , 7 days when younger , along with tennis and jogging . Now I’m broke down at 58
Used to play a lot as well. Last played in a competitive league at 35, and our team won the championship.

Was still playing pickup ball weekly when covid hit.

At 50, my back has seen much better days. Bet I haven’t shot a ball in 2 years.

Edit: might have shot around at my brother’s house last year.
