Liam Coen rumored to take over as Rams' new offensive coordinator
The Los Angeles Rams are in the market for a new offensive coordinator after the Minnesota Vikings hired Kevin O’Connell as their new head coach.
NoIf he leaves, will the Rams take a hard look at Levis next year ??
you can only portal transfer & be immediately eligible once. Anybody doing it a 2nd time would need a waiver. My question is, some of the guys that transferred in because of him, do we think we see them transfer out?
Depends on Levis' stock. If he is a 1st or 2nd round value, it makes little sense for the Rams to draft him. If he is not that high, why not? Teams with an established starter at quarterback draft projects in later rounds all the time.
Yeah, the "gotta be first" crowd may have jumped the gun. I'm not familiar with the NFL pay scale, would the Rams pay a non-shot calling OC $1M/year? Also, would UK make, or has made, a counteroffer? Not saying anything is set in stone, but it might be pretty telling that there's no official statement as of yet or that the heavy-hitting insiders on this board haven't given their 2¢ despite all the Twitter smoke.
That said, if there is something official, I haven't seen it. Van Hiles and Nick Roush are hoping or are in threads about whether or not Coen is leaving.
Seems to me like maybe Coen could be using his pay at UK to negotiate better compensation from the Rams (that's my take. No insider info whatsoever). Regardless, there's at least a little smoke on Twitter that Coen opting for LA may not be black and white.
Will be interesting following this until we get official word one way or the other.
To be fair, I think the dude is gone. That's just on gut and the few tidbits that have come out from Matt Jones and I think one other source.Yeah, the "gotta be first" crowd may have jumped the gun. Probably so. Do all the Pro stuff and not have to recruit. Some guys like the recruiting game but to me kissing the ass and bowing down to 18-21 y/os wouldn't be much fun. Have a really good friend who was a college asst years ago. Now, this was a different time, no cell phones, texting, email, etc....but the guy told me his wife would meet him at the airport every 3-4 days to swap suitcases with him during recruiting season. Be tough on a family man.To be fair, I think the dude is gone. That's just on gut and the few tidbits that have come out from Matt Jones and I think one other source.
They might pay a non-play-calling OC a nice salary if he can do a damn-good install and is on the same page as McVay. We saw it at UK with Woodward in the sky. Having someone on the same wavelength makes all the difference.
Money has zero to do with this move man. ZERO.I looked up the typical NFL OC salary and what we are paying Coen is above what the average OC in the NFL is making with experience. Even if the Rams were to match what we pay him, he's still taking a hit having to live in LA and pay those taxes.
I do not know who Stoops will hire to replace Coen. I do not know how various candidates might view the job opening. But I can say with some confidence where Stoops ought to look first. Zac Robinson or Chris O'Hara.Rowland has a tweet "with kentucky now looking for an OC"
Was about the Bengals WR coach..wandale retweeted it and gave his approval.
I think that would be a good fit to plug and Play. Don't see him coming for the Same position.
Dude…. lolA young talented Jewish guy like him is going to have endless opportunities for fame and fortune in Los Angeles, not to mention will start getting looks at head coaching gigs after a couple of years. If the pro game doesn't work out for him he can always come back to college where he has proven himself a commodity. Gotta strike why the iron is hot
I don’t see the rams giving that and I don’t think it’s likely it takes that much. Although he may be looking for more than they’ve offered him. It’s all conjecture at this point. The rams go with the collective staff and McVey seems to keep a lot of smart guys around to collaborate with each other instead of the ‘one guy runs the show with a huge salary’ thing. . I don’t know that he will relinquish playcalling but seems with the speculation on his retirement and kid on the way it may be a spot where he wants to give the staff more responsibility to free up a little more of his time.Yeah, the "gotta be first" crowd may have jumped the gun.
