CoachCal.com: Hawk shows off handles, a nice jump shot and ridiculous vertical

I think, main thing he needs to improve is running plays, show that he can be a PG.

He gone.

Seriously, has any senior for UK this long after the season is over decided to attend graduate school in order to play again?

I guess if you played 4 yrs without a redshirt or injury it wouldn't be available to them.

To me, Hawkins always seemed like a tremendous football safety or cornerback playing basketball. Great athleticism that seemed more of a fit with football than basketball. I never saw any high level basketball skills. But I did see a great motor, will to win and a lot of intelligence on the basketball court. I think that often beats basketball skills, or at least I think it often did in Hawkins' case.

A lot of local people felt that way. Idk. He smiles too much to be a football player, but he was great at it, I heard. Many that saw him play thought exactly like you - he should have played football.

But he made UK and proved he was better than some players who had a lot more buzz. Will make a lot of money playing this game. What an amazing young man.

He was very good end of senior year. Hawkins wasn't worth playing more until he finally figured out offense near the end of his career.

Have to disagree.....Hawkins played better the end of his senior year because he saw the floor more and was finally not removed for every mistake he made. He was solid the entire time he was here and consistently overlooked. He made for a great backup/role type player. He was not built to carry a team or be the star. His JR season we don't beat the cards at rupp if briscoe plays, instead the freak injury allowed hawk to get his minutes and we know what happened from there.

Hawkins is a much better overall player than briscoe and why he didn't play briscoes minutes I'll never know.

I don't know about that because Hawkins always had that little injury that set him back every year just when you wondered whether he got it or not. He improved which is why he played more.

Wrong so wrong. Hawkins was as much to blame for not playing more as anyone. He didnt have half the self confidence he needed to truly succeed. And that is up to the individual. Briscoe drips with it and overall player? Get real per 40 stats.
IB 16pts 7rbs 5 assist 1 steal
Hawk 9pts 3 rb 3 assist 1 steal

Confidence is very key and which of the two players mentioned could make mistake after mistake without fear of being taken out of the game. IB was a great rebounder for his size and the only attribute he held over Hawkins other than his ability to get to the rim and finish tough layups (have to give him that too). Your per 40 stars are meaningless as at times hawk so only a few minutes of action in very many games without having the ability to truly get in the flow of a game. IB consistently was allied to play 25-30 minutes per game even when he wasn't playing well. I'd have more confidence too knowing I could make mistake after mistake without fear of coming out.

IB could play with reckless abandonment. Hawk the majority of his career was not afforded that same luxury.

It's a difference in opinion but Hawk didn't do well enough offensively his first 3 years to get anymore minutes then he did. This past season he got minutes because he improved nothing more nothing less.

His jump shot and shooting mechanics in that video looked much improved from his freshman year. That vertical of his is just ridiculous.

No he's not. But we can agree to disagree.

Hawkins shooting and offense was atrocious his first 3 seasons. You cite one random game from his career. Briscoe had a triple double earlier this season. Anyone can look good in a game or two here and there.

Yes agree to disagree but when you see limited minutes your stats will not be great. I don't think hawk should have played more his freshmen and sophomore seasons but his JR year and first part of SR year he should have.
