Coach Brooks is in Washington D.C.

Having followed these recruiting battles for years even when it was the CATS PAUSE days, it isn't life and death. There have been supposedly top tier recruits that were a "lock" and then went elsewhere to never be anything special. I can't even remember the name of the one recruits years ago that was wearing the Kentucky jacket, was considered top 10, and shocked us all going elsewhere but never heard of again. Yes of course there were others that went elsewhere and did fine and some that did come that disappointed or were great.

In today's college basketball it seems to me that your best bet is a proven experienced transfer or that one or two unique Anthony Davis types. Right now Flagg at Duke along with possibly a handful of other Freshman are doing great otherwise most are ehhh. I hope Wilson makes the right choice to come to UK, but if he doesn't I believe he was not the right fit based upon what his other choice appears to be.

Oh well, next man up. Not a poor 3pt % freshman with questionable decision making.

I can say I REALLY like Nate Ament and have been very impressed with his efficiency and potential from this summer on.

But we had folks thinking Caleb Wilson was skinny/too thin. Caleb is Shaq physically in comparison to Nate.

Very good player and I think we have one of the most enticing opportunities in the country. Would like to have him. Probably would prefer the best fit/player at the 4 from the portal. With our NIL, offensive friendly system, and void at the position, we should have our pick IMO.

Supposedly one thing is his family is unsure about freshman playing for Pope and they like UNCs record with them.. Who knows..
This is what I have thought since the season started. UNC has promised to use him like they have Jackson this season, where he will be the focal point of their offense. He will get as many minutes as he wants and whether the Heels win or lose, he will get his numbers.

And like others have said, he isn’t a good enough scorer to be in that role at UK under Pope.

Piss on any recruit that goes elsewhere. Nothing personal, just business. Me, personally, if I recruited someone and hadn't gotten a yay or nay within a month, I'm out recruiting someone to replace them, and THAT player would be welcomed with open arms if they did make a decision within a month. The holding programs hostage needs to stop, pronto.

Truth is we really want Wilson.

But if he chooses to put on the baby blue, I'm VERY confident that there will be several very talented big men in the portal that would be thrilled to be featured in a 5 out up-tempo offense under Mark Pope at Kentucky.

I'm not worried the least bit.

If we make Ament the #1 priority since last July, our chance will be way more higher. Now we have almost no chance on Ament. Ament knows himself as "backup" plan for UK and it definitely is harmful with his recruiting. I remember a visit of Ament was scheduled in August and suddenly was cancelled and not rescheduled again. Same with that Finland guy who is in 26 class and could jump into 25 class

Do not blame pope, wilson may told pope wrong information and made pope thought we had good chance. Pope may be trolled as well. I think he offered multiple frontcourt players, and suddenly only got all in with Wilson. If wilson did not "commit" something to pope, I do not believe pope would quit the chance on other frontcourt players and only hosted wilson for OV (for frontcourt players). Pope was also screwed by Wilson

I can't understand Wilson's way of thinking.

Nate would be an awesome get. He had a very good game against Pacific Prep(Peterson and Bundalo) last night. He showed an ability to distribute(4 assists) that I had not seen before. Played considerably better defense last night than when he was totally out matched against Dybantsa. He is very light, around 190. But I saw a toughness in his game that I had not seen to this point. If he gains another 10-20 lbs of lean muscle, he is going to be tough to keep from getting to his spot and he could really be a good defender. You never get a good side by side, but he and Bundalo appear to be the same height.

I would be surprised to see any top high school prospect pick UK unless they are Kentucky kids. Popes offense seems geared towards older players or system players and that’s not a bad thing.

Yeah this couldn’t be more off base. Now if you say his offense is geared to highly skilled basketball players that’s accurate. Those come in all ages and sizes.

anty chance he reclassifies and any chance we get back in the race?

I’m sure I missed something, but Why is the UK Girls Coach scouting/recruiting for Pope’s team?
EDIT: I see that one of Pope’s assistant coaches is Alvin Brooks III.

Don’t think we have a legitimate shot. I think he’s a dukie. Give me a proven portal player that can rebound, play tough defense and hit the 3 ball.

Do you mean “the perception by fans of holding the program hostage”? Because I’d be willing to bet that Pope and the staff know better than anyone what is happening and have plans B, C, and D in case he chooses UNC. The old staff is gone now.

And I’m not sure I’ve heard of too many 1 month recruitments but maybe I’m wrong.

I've not heard anyone say Pope doesn't have plans, not sure where you came up with that. Recruits holding programs hostage isn't unique to Calipari.

Then what does holding a program hostage mean? To me, admittedly never being in a hostage situation, I take the meaning to be you’re at the mercy of someone else, who is holding you against your will, and making demands.

Just doesn’t seem to fit anything about what Mark Pope has demonstrated so far as coach. He obviously wants Wilson, but if he goes to UNC so be it. But no way Pope or the staff are being held hostage by anyone. They made their pitch and if the tea leaves are right they’ll move on, and fill the roster with players that want to be at UK. He won’t be left holding the bag or scrambling.
