Wasn't it like 3 minutes left when Cal pulled the last of the starters? I've seen Pitino keep his starters in that long even in huge blow outs.
Actually it was barely over a minute left when EJ and David got in. Cal does leave starters in way too long in these type games. You can bank on the end bench guys not getting in until 2:00 minutes left at most.

Also I think last night proved Tai won't play this year. He better have a redshirt used on him. Just because he has the extra year doesn't mean he has to use it. But it's better to have the extra year available than not.

HAHAHA, now he's trying to backtrack, must've seen this thread.

Sorry you took it the wrong way, but I never root for a player to get injured unlike some fans up the road does.

I'm sure the "Big" in BigOwensboroCard is in reference to being a huge lard ass that thinks being big-fat is the same thing as being big-tough. Needless to say, I hope he blows out his knee on the way to the frig to freshen up his RC and Crown. Hope he chokes on his moonpie too.

Kevin ware says hello I'm sure him and chane are tearing it up somewhere in a Colorado church league so they can smoke out legally.

He leaves starters/key reserves in to get more PT together...in case anyone hasn't noticed, it's a short window here. Every second spent on the court, running plays as a unit, is crucial regardless of the opponent. March is 5 weeks away.
Kind of disagree with that, when a game is that big a blow out, they are not running plays anymore, if anything is could foster some bad habits. I can see leaving a starter or two in and running subs until about the 2 minute mark then just pull the starters period and let the subs have it. But as far as a UL fan goes, why do they care, what gets me on an average day a third of their post are about UK, not their own team. I used to love to watch UofL back when Denny Crum coached them but no so much anymore, and I rarely frequent their board because it is nothing but a hate UK site.

Well I "loomed" over it again, and that was exactly what he said. Apparently, a few of his fellow posters had enough morals to call him out on it, and he backtracked. Yes, we can have some insensitive people over here too, but I have never heard anyone want a kid to get hurt. And for the Big Moron's info, it is down the road, not up the road, unless he was referring to IU. :cool2:

UofL, their fans and anyone sympathetic to them are garbage.

Not every UofL fan is "garbage". Many of them have been fans of the program since Denny Crum's days and are probably not very proud or even embarrassed about the issues and scandals they have been having lately. The rivalry IS good for the state. When both programs are doing well, it's a prime time game that "casual" fans and recruits around the country will watch. If UofL turns into a dumpster fire like many of you wish it would, then we might as well play Wake Forest or Duquesne or The Mississippi School of the Blind, because no one outside of the Commonwealth will care. I want UK to win every game we play, and I want our main rivals to be at the tops of their game so those wins actually mean something.

Of course they have their fans that run off at the mouth and say ignorant things like what the OP posted about. Every team in every sport has that. And posts like yours that generalize an entire fan base based on the actions of a few asshats is proof positive that we have a few asshats of our own.

No cue the "I must be a UofL fan in hiding" schtick.

just watched the game again and with 2:57 on the clock... the only starter in was Briscoe. And Pullam went to the scorers table with 2 minutes to go and eventually replaced Briscoe with 1:22 remaining.

This guy is truly,an ass. You make the cardinal fans look disgusting.

I believe it was Gomer and Barney that was looking for that ' Web footed, Red breasted Lake Loom ' wasn't it ?

I knew something was up when you said Classy and UL fan in the same sentence.

Whatever you want to think Cal has always done it at UK. He's plays his guys often until 2 mins or less regardless of the score. Obviously when your dealing with a lot of OAD's and freshmen the more PT they can get the better. He does indeed have a short window to try and get them to improve enough to realize their dreams. Rick believes in a 4 years window yet he does the same thing at times.

Ah, the irony. I guess players who go to Louisville don't even WANT to make it to the NBA, right? If they had the choice between performing well and getting a multi-million dollar contract OR playing for 2 or 3 more seasons at Louisville, they'd "do the honorable thing" and stay right there. Because, after all, they're L1C4! What a joke!

Psst... this just in.
1. Rick Pitino would LOVE to have a bunch of 5-star recruits on his team EVERY season. Yes, even guys who could be one and done.
2. Rick has TWO one and done players on his team THIS season. They just got developed elsewhere and transferred. (and they're his 2 best players- what does that tell ya?)
3. EVERY player on Louisville's team who could leave for the NBA with a guaranteed contract, WOULD leave.

I get so sick of this faux morality of staying in school being more honorable than using your ability to make a living for yourself and your family. I hate to break it to these people (not really), but you can finish a degree at ANY point in your life. Many universities offer this thing called "online classes" that allow you to complete much of a degree while not even on campus. You should check into it. People who aren't great athletes do it ALL THE TIME. Many put off school because they have a great job opportunity today that may not be there later, and that's not only ok, it's actually preferable. Believe it or not, these kids' lives don't revolve around yours. And there is nothing greater or more moral about a kid staying at your school than to go pro. It's a choice they have to make. And the only reason most of Louisville's players don't do it is because they're NOT GOOD ENOUGH! /rant

Exactly, we had not played very well until Arkansas and Cal is trying to develop some chemistry and confidence with this group. The window is a short one and we have a lot of growing to do between now and the NCAAT.

Louisville realizes they cant compete with the one and done recruits, so they go after the done and ones. They will dominate there.

He started backtracking because he got called out for being an idiot and posters saying you should never hope for an injury to anyone. The entire thread is wrong on all accounts. Cal is justified in coaching and substituting however he sees fit because he is the one paid to run the team. That goes for any coach of any program. Fans of a program have a vested interest in their team but I never understand a fan complaining about how another team is run.

I love that meme they have where Cal is always trying to kick players out for the next batch, as it's nefarious and for his own purposes that he encourages players to go.

They literally have the king of high level players who flop and nobody has more transfers out of their program.

Yes Cal tells kids to go if they're ready, but if he did it for his own selfish purposes, why does he tell the Walls, Cousins, Davises of the world to leave, but lets the Poythresses and Willises return? None of what they say makes any damn sense.

The day all those "good UofL fans" are literally beating down the doors of the President's office demanding changes is the day I'll give your argument some thought.
Also, I didn't say the rivalry wasn't good for the State. I said there is no provable benefit in supposed Kentucky fans cheering for UofL to win the national championship and there isn't. Hence the term R-I-V-A-L-R-Y.
Everything around that program is a scam...Jurich as the defacto President, the Yum! Center KY taxpayer fraud/fiasco, Hooker Gate, the shameful Pitino-Porcini's-Abortion affair...the list goes on and on.
If YOU want to cheer on a program involved in all of that (and more) then go right ahead. But, if you do don't be surprised when others challenge your loyalties. Because no sane person could possibly defend that mess.

Yet, when UofL made their Championship run a few years ago...ON THIS VERY BOARD, we had people saying they were going to cheer for that program because "It's good for the State." By the way, no one who ever said that has been able to substantiate that claim.

You will NEVER hear me say that. I wouldn't cheer for that dumpster fire of a program if you paid me.

"Not every UofL fan is "garbage""

....if only there were some scientifically attained stats on this. I'd be surprised if it was less than 60%.

Proof of this? Just go back and read what Duke and Kansas fans were saying before K and Self started recruiting multi OADs vs. how they clamour for as many as they can get now.[laughing]

Most schools in a blowout do play their starters until at least the under 4 timeout so not sure what the big deal is. If he wants to talk about class on the court he should ask his own coach why in their blowout wins against Popcorn State they keep their full court, hack, grab and slap defense going to the final whistle.

Actually it was barely over a minute left when EJ and David got in. Cal does leave starters in way too long in these type games. You can bank on the end bench guys not getting in until 2:00 minutes left at most.

And they got outscored 6-0 in less than a minute. Doesn't take but 5 minutes of that to wipe out a 30 point lead. Cal leaves guys in to get valuable game experience that will help the team in the post season since EJ and David won't be anything but spectators at that point. I expect you know that but just need something stupid to bitch about after a beat down.
