Citrus Bowl Vendors’ Ripoff

I had no problems in the stadium, but will add that we got ripped off $55 on Nashville Ave for a parking pass through Parking Whiz. When we got there, a pure redneck bum refused to let us park there, said our printed pass was a scam (it clearly was not, as I will explain) and then proceeded to collect money from people who paid him in cash. We were lucky enough to park across the street where the owner of the business was there collecting money and let us use the bathroom inside, was a much better deal anyway.

And our pass was definitely not a scam, because Parking Whiz refunded our money and sent us a nice note.
Sorry you got scammed, but at least you got to park AND whiz.

I went to the Super Bowl in Jacksonville some years ago. People arrive so early to those games. Outback Steakhouse and other vendors in the stadium were out of food by halftime. The bathrooms also were closed do to backups. It was surprising for a Super Bowl.

Yeah well if the United States would move away from customers directly paying the salary of workers through tips, then we wouldn’t have this problem.

I’m a capitalist, but paying someone $2/hour and hoping the customer gives them money to live on is some low down rat scoundrel shit and it happens all across this entire country.

I just found this out myself so I'm not calling you out, just passing it along.

Fair Labor Standards Act

Abbreviated version: "If an employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 an hour do not equal the Federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference."

Yet you felt obligated to over tip (no one made you), and now you complain because you did so. Just have some restraint and pay what you feel is fair.

Why do you tip enough to cover the employees entire hour? Who decided that was a thing...Paying $25 tip on a $40 tab?
Wait, waiters make 25 dollars an hour plus the 2. I need a side hustle

Having traveled a lot and run into this kind of stuff before particularly with airport vendors, I have learned the following:

1. These vendors do this because the amounts are so low people don't pay attention and they get away with it 90 percent of the time.

2. Always get a receipt and if they give you a hard time or refuse it is always a red flag and follow up immediately with the credit card company.

3. If you get a copy to sign, never leave the tip line blank. Always write in NONE if you are not leaving a tip.

4. Keep receipts or write down purchases and check later for unauthorized tips. If you have a unauthorized tip the transaction is fraudulent and the credit card company will refund it. You can try the vendor but they can be difficult to deal with and you will end up dealing with the credit card company

You can make all the excuses in the world that making the us a socialist utopia will solve the world's problems but in the end it sounds like fraud and theft took place here and should be prosecuted as such.

I got the shock of my life when I went to Publix to buy some ox tails to make some soup. A package that weighed a little over a pound was $23.00. They use to give them away years ago but I guess people discovered them and now they cost as much as rib-eye steaks.

God only knows where this will end up but they tell us people voted for this and accept it. Inflation is like a cruel tax that changes your lifestyle. Put more water in the soup there's better times a coming. ???

Here’s a place that sells for $10 a pound next time you need some.

my experience with the vendors was bad also, not sure if they charged me a tip I didn't authorize but wouldnt be surprised after reading this thread. The service was so bad that 30% OFF my bill would have been too little!

That's interesting. We eat some unconventional food too because my wife is a Japanese chef, and we paid about $5/lb last week for tripe. It's delicious, how she prepares it, but I don't see how internal organs should cost that much here in the US where so few people eat it. Maybe they are exporting it.
$5 for tripe? That's crazy. It seems like butchers would almost give it away.

I was there and can attest that everything about the game experience, except the actual game, was the worst I have seen in a long time. The sound system was awful, the concessions were a mess, etc. But I go for the game and can live with the rest.

I paid for good seats in the lower bowl at the 20, went to the back of the concession area in the lower level, which was jammed but there were much shorter lines on the other side, including most importantly, the line to the mens room.

Bought beer from a kid with a box of ice cold Coors Lite, which was delicious, and avoided a long stand in line. My hot dog sucked, but my friend bought it for me, and as you say, I didn't go for the food, went for the trophy presentation which was quite satisfactory.

The PA was terrible, I never understood a single word said during the commercial timeouts.

I did not have that same experience. Actually, the staff was very pleasant.

After finally finding a manageable concession stand on the Iowa side at halftime, I was able to buy a Modello as it was the only option left. The vendor was kind and gave me the option to tip. I tipped the 30%

As for the rest of the venue?

It was terrible. Camping World Stadium had High School level amenities. I thought the Liberty Bowl was bad, but at least it is not a New Year's Day Bowl game.

Orlando, VRBO, and the Citrus Bowl should be ashamed.
