CI Wrestling Thread #56

The ONLY way I’m ok with Jey getting a title is if Drew completely destroys him in the most brutal squash match ever. I’m talking about 6 straight minutes of Drew pummeling him to the point he has to tie him up in the ropes to hit a Claymore because Uso can’t stand on his own. And that would need to happen within about a month.

Outside of that stupid entrance and selling tshirts, Uso is bad at pretty much everything.
Jey Uso might legit be the worst in-ring men’s wrestler I can think of that is currently being regularly featured on American TV wrestling. Other than maybe some of those Evolve talents I’d largely never even heard of before WWE IDed them.

Famed indie, ROH OG, and ex-TNA wrestler Homicide is retiring tomorrow, which is also his birthday.

AEW/ROH is going to be releasing one of those lengthy timeline videos highlighting his ROH legacy.

But sadly he’s had so many head injuries that he can barely talk in these videos Eddie Kingston posted on IG. I hope he’s got people looking out for him, I imagine he is going to have it pretty rough in his post-wrestling career. He never exactly made it to a big wrestling payday like many of the notable early ROH guys.

Hot controversy take

Rock/hogan wm was way overrated and did nothing. Rock was already established and hogan was washed at that point. It was the beginning of wwf trying to hold on to the “past” of the business which led to all these part timers coming in for one off’s etc.

Continuing their new tradition WWE announced an August European tour that just happens to coincide with Forbidden Door being in London this August. Of course AEW hasn't officially announced the show on August 24th.

AEW Dynamite for tonight, apparently they are having a blizzard in Omaha where the show is but TK says all the folks for these matches have made it there.

AEW Champion Jon Moxley vs. Adam Copeland - Street Fight
Four Way to Determine next AEW International Championship contender: Mike Bailey vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Ricochet vs. Mark Davis
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone vs. Billie Starkz.
Megan Bayne vs. Kris Statlander

I don't know the responses Drainmaker is getting with that tweet but I've gotta say while WWE probably enjoys screwing with AEW some, the whining (not here) seems a little over the top.

SNME, which was likely an NBC decision, is nearly 300 miles from All In.
If Forbidden Door is 8/24 in London, that's 283 miles away from a WWE house show in Newcastle.
An NXT PLE is the same night as an AEW PPV...but it's NXT, not Survivor Series.

When did the sickos become afraid of NBC specials, house shows, and NXT PLE's with Oba Femi and Lexis King? We've gotten to a point where fans don't want another event within 300 miles of their event and if one event is in London, the other event shouldn't be in England. Like, what are we doing here?

Alberto El Patron has been suspended from wrestling in Tijuana for six months after confronting fans who threw coins at him during an AAA show. He jumped into the crowd and threw a chair, prompting another chair to be thrown. An elderly woman was injured and hospitalized, leading the Tijuana Wrestling Commission to impose the ban.

This is why you can't go into the stands. The guy that threw the beer in the Malace at the Palace was the biggest problem and deserved to get his butt kicked. The problem was Stephen Jackson going in and getting the wrong guy.

So WWE is expected to make overtures to Sting to induct Luger into the HOF.

Since Sting is under contract to AEW, does TK allow it or does he tell WWE to go eff themselves?

Since it was Luger’s request I think everyone should play nice since this is a unique one off given their wcw history which is prior to any wwe/AEW history with hhh/vince/tk.

Otherwise who inducts Luger? Flair? DDP?

lol Chris Masters, the Godfather, Elijah, JTG, and Sabu are gonna be on an indie show in Owensboro. I’d consider going if I had any reason to believe Sabu would actually show up
Saw a recent video of Chris masters - he’s still doing the master lock challenge but not being on the juice he looks way smaller

Didn’t know Billy starks was from Louisville - was she in ovw?
Yeah she’s from the ville. When aew played Corbin a couple years ago, she had a huge contingent there. She faced Toni Storm and Toni put her over big with about a million false finishes before winning in the end.

I don’t know if she had any OVW run or not but I know she’s worked for a bunch of minor leagues.

Idk much about her but from what I saw - which was an impressive showing - I think she’d make a really good heel. I can see some of her tendencies and moves be really effective as a heel.

Definitely has a bright future if she’s only 20.

Drainmaker is a majorly pro AEW account.

I think the idea is WWE says AEW isn't competition but seems to be going out of their way to counter whenever they can. WWE only comes to Europe once a year so do you drive 283 miles to see Cody, Punk, Rollins rather than watching an AEW PPV.

Oh, I know about DM. I'm not knocking you for posting it. It just looks a bit desperate when I hear "AEW is where the best wrestle!" but then "wait no that's not fair, how can WWE hold an event 300 miles from our event?"

That's not a thing anywhere else. Would be like the Deftones playing Louisville but their fans complaining that Metallica is playing Chicago the same night or week. Really, that's 300 miles too.
