CI Wrestling Thread #56

Touting record financial results while reducing benefits for employees, increasing their work load, and then not paying them for increased productivity?

Just add it to the mile long list of reasons why TKO/WWE are pieces of shit.

This was inevitable and happens in the private sector too - it’s not some unprecedented event.

I could see it being laughed out of court, and if he wants to go to trial, I have a feeling Punk/TK probably have a little more money for better attorneys.

Dude said being benched curtailed his popularity. Bro, you were on the bad end of Wardlow squashes. Popularity was nil to begin with.
My favorite part is when he said he was blackballed from wrestling.

He is signed to TNA. He’s wrestled for them three times this calendar year. He wrestled four to five times for AEW/ROH after Punk got fired. He even publicly stated AEW was looking to bring him back but told he them he wasn’t interested. I mean I don’t blame him for not going back, but you can’t claim being blackballed from AEW (or wrestling in general) when they were looking to bring you back.

I saw it first hand at the 1998 Final Four. My family and another family were eating at a restaurant on the river walk the afternoon of the title game.

Kevin Costner walks in and is seated near us. My mom was a fan girl, but knew that he was just trying to eat and wasn’t going to approach the table.

In less than 2 minutes the table was swarmed to the point Costner and his guests had to get up and leave. I felt bad for him. I’m sure the money is great, but not being able to be a regular person anywhere would get old after a while.
People who say they would like to be rich and famous don't know what they are asking for. The rich part may be nice but the famous part would be a pain.

WWE already has a new Hardy Boyz shirt for sale ahead of them being on NXT tonight. Being reported on the interwebs that a main roster run is possible this summer.

Did you say Wings?!

Looks like I have my next vacation planned!

Of course I’m being sarcastic, but if that was nearby I would definitely go to see them if the price was reasonable. Love that show!

I was gonna go anyway but they just got announced. I haven’t thought about that show in years but now the brothers and that red head that was also in Robin Hood men in tights will be there and I sorta perked up. Not paying for a picture but still fun

I've got a soft spot for the Hardy Boyz. I subbed to WWF Magazine and an issue had a poster of them when they were practically kids. I mean, kidz. They looked like jobber scrubs then the following year or so became the hottest and most exciting team in wrestling. Matt died like 3 times in AEW and Jeff is most remembered joyfully dancing to the ring as his brother was getting beat up. They were always going to get a final run in WWE.

Plan has likely been Cody vs Cena for awhile with Cody vs Rock as a backup. Now with him getting a Scorsese film, random appearances are probably on the menu for 2025. All I really want over the next two years is Rock vs Roman and Rock vs Fatu, with Fatu winning in the same impressive fashion Brock won at Summerslam '02.

I don’t know how on earth anyone can be this excited about a Hardys match unless they’ve found the fountain of youth.

Last time I saw Matt wrestle in AEW he could barely run and bend his knees.

Jeff still had something in him but seems like TK lost enough trust to not want to invest in him much after the DUI. Honestly, who can really blame him with Jeff’s history? Plenty of other guys on that roster not getting in legal trouble to give those minutes too.

Some people just want their favorites to stick around. Hulk Hogan can barely walk and gets booed everywhere but there are still fans wanting him to do ‘one last match’. People actually paid to watch Ric Flairs last match and it’s a damn miracle he didn’t die in the ring.

Kevin Bacon said he went out in disguise and hated it because he was so used to everyone being super nice to him just because he’s Kevin Bacon
This reminds me of that saying, when you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
When you are used to being treated like Kevin Bacon, being treated like a regular Joe feels insulting.

Noticeably absent from the Ryan Nemeth lawsuit is his previous claim that AEW executives told him to cut a promo to antagonize Punk. Seems like a pretty important detail to leave out. So did he just make that up, or did he and his 1-800 caliber lawyer just fail to include it?

I'm glad there is are still plans for Harley after her title match. She is entertaining and easy on the eyes.
