CI Wrestling Thread #56

LA Knight? 😬

Wouldn’t surprise me if they told the Miz to sign a legends or a non-talent deal or kick the bricks. WWE is getting to the point where if you aren’t a top star or a promising young talent then you’re just a line item on the balance sheet to eliminate if you don’t re-sign at a discount.

They aren’t likely going to place any priority on keeping around anyone that doesn’t fit in those two groups. They’ll just plug and play someone from NXT who they can bring up at a discount to fill the spot instead.
From what I saw they lowballed r truth and he turned it down

That sucks for him. He is one part of the E that has consistently entertained me whenever he shows up for the last how ever long.

This is why his release/non-extension surprised me.

1. Been there forever
2. Beloved morale guy in the locker room
3. Always over no matter how long he’s been off TV
4. Capable of working anywhere on the card from curtain jerker to main
5. Can have competitive, squash and comedy matches.

I know, I know. It’s a business and blah blah (insert corporate talk about bottom lines and ROI here).

Yup - thing is a company always needs jobbers - seems like lately there’s a lot of distraction/interference matches and most wrestling fans grow tired of the “non-clean” finishes.

Disgusting.

I’m willing to bet it’s some virgin incel with no friends who lives online. These dudes are so pathetic and they bring it on themselves. I hope whoever did it is prosecuted.
Wrestling fans are literally the worst people that I have found roaming around on the internet.

TKO is reportedly reconsidering Roman Reigns deal with WWE and looking to lower the amount!

According to a report from Jonathan Coachman, TKO is looking to continue cutting costs and want to make a significant change to Reigns $15 million salary

It was noted that Reigns base salary is actually around $5 million, but after factoring in royalties from things such as appearances, video games and merchandise sales it’s actually much larger

In addition it was noted that this is allegedly seen as unacceptable due to Reigns part-time status in the company and his lack of time on WWE TV

I cannot believe that TKO would fiddle with the contract of one of their true main eventers. I could see them trying to make him show up a little more often, but you can't jerk people's cash like that unless you are ready for war.

I’m not buying this one. The big time UFC guys always get favorable treatment like that too. Chuck Liddell had a freaking plane and he sure as shit wasn’t making enough money to buy one.

Can’t make him show up more than he’s contracted for unless they renegotiate the terms of the deal or pay him more.

Looks like Coachman thinks HHH will be gone from WWE in 18 months. Rumor is the Rock wants him gone.

Legendary Attitude Era stars The Rock and Triple H both possess important positions of power in WWE, and they reportedly don't always see eye to eye.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleTalk), The Rock and Triple H "have different viewpoints on many things," and "they are at times on different pages."

Meltzer noted that while most assume The Rock would win a power struggle with Triple H due to how close he is with WWE president Nick Khan, Triple H has "gotten what he wanted," including Reigns vs. Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 and Cena turning heel rather than Rhodes this year.

- Oh joy, Coach's doom predictions. Let me guess, Gewirtz is his source and he's fantasy booking taking Levesque's job so Rock is Vince and Brian is Triple H? I'm sure Nick Khan is looking at those record profits and thinking, "a major change is definitely needed." Having said that, with Levesque's heart issues I don't expect him in that chair for the next 20 years but it won't be Gewirtz's weasley ass nor Hollywood Dwayne backstage every week when he can't even show up to finish storylines now.

- Corbin ripped Meltzer a new asshole on twitter, saying he's the reason online fans are toxic. I saw this coming when the people who listen to Meltzer voted Punk as the most disgusting promotional tactic. Apparently landing another job after being fired is a "tactic" and is "disgusting." Danielson was right: "FICKLE."

- This isn't a "be like WWE" thing but I wouldn't have my number two woman beating no-names for no-name belts in what looks like a 45 year old warehouse. No one knows what Prater-Catchen is and the photo is credited to someone named 'Pokematic.' Once you're at a certain level, it looks amateurish running around the world chasing titles no one's heard of. Rhea Ripley winning the OVW women's title wouldn't make a lick of sense either. She's bigger than that just like Mone is bigger than this.

When did CM punk getting a job get ‘most disgusting promotional tactic’?

My bad. He/WWE didn't "win" (Wrestling Observer Awards) but some voted WWE hiring Punk as the 'Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic' of the year a few months after his return. Basically it's an award created for WWE at this point. Most years them working with the Saudis wins. Next year it'll likely be firing talent during a time when they're getting record gates. Triple H thanking Vince for his career during his HOF speech will be a selection too.

The most disgusting promotional tactic hasn’t even been a real thing for a while now.

Releasing people isn’t a ‘promotional tactic’. They weren’t promoting the fact that they fired these people as a reason to watch

I’d argue bringing Vince back when WWE and UFC merged wasn’t a ‘promotional tactic’ it was just him being a lunatic.

Now putting him on TV and advertising him was

Someone posted Dom Mysterio is getting threats from the same person that was threatening Roxanne - how they hadn’t found them yet and arrested them? Definitely some messed up people out there.
