Chris Livingston contract

This is why Players are tripping over themselves to get Rich Paul and Klutch to rep them. He gets it done. He got his guy where he wanted him and the biggest contract imaginable for him.

How the f is Livingston worth that kind of money when he has no experience in nba or even showed that much potential in a college game.
Good for him but this is yet another reason I have lost all interest in the NBA. It’s anything but a professional league anymore when they are handing out contracts to players of his caliber and that’s been going on a long time now.

Well now we know why he didn't come back.... there clearly was a wink wink deal between Klutch and Milwaukee

Good for him I recon... life changing money for a European type talent.
It definitely should be and would be for many. He is a young kid and it is only 2 yrs guaranteed. He should clear a few million at least. Should be set for life but if he tries to spend like his teammates he could be dead broke in a short period of time.

Hes gonna need a part time job because if he thinks he's rich, that money will be gone in a year.

He should've come back (snicker)

And next year, fans will still argue Ugo or whoever shouldn't enter the draft.
Can see it both ways honestly. If you're not convinced you'll develop into a first rounder and yout can get this kinda cash you should probably take it. But if you hold out a year and go lottery, then you'll make substantially more and have a better guaranteed contract. 14th pick would make over 10 mil in 3 years.

It's likely a pretty tough decision for quite a few players. In this case though, it's pretty obvious Chris made the right call. ~3.5 mil guarantee is more than most make in a life time and he'll have that by the time he's 20. Could legitimately live a very comfortable life off that kinda change and never have to work.

FYI this is the standard 2nd round contract now.

It's only "record breaking" because the cap continues to go up every year, meaning draft contracts increase every year.

So next year's last pick in the draft will break the record assuming they sign a legitimate NBA deal like Livingston just did.
Second round contracts are not guaranteed. They don't have a standard pay structure like the first round. He's getting paid more than all the second rounders in front of him this year, so far.

This isn’t due to the salary cap. Milwaukee is already over that.

This has more to do with the Second Round Exception that is new this year as part of the new CBA. It gives teams that are over the salary cap, like Milwaukee, more flexibility with respect to how much they can pay their 2nd round draft picks.

LA used to run into this problem frequently where they ended up signing second rounders to league minimum deals because they didn’t want to use the Mid Level Exception on them. That’s less of an issue now with the new Second Round Exception.

No, he got that deal based on some changes under the new CBA that just took effect.

The issue is that you aren’t familiar with the new CBA and have decided to make up something ridiculous.
What is your deal man? Do you expect everyone to keep up with the NBA’s new contract rules? Are you grading the people you’re responding to based on how well they understand the cba?

Tell me your time is worthless without telling me your time is worthless…

As for your second thought the guy you’re responding to said he was guessing. He never made anything up. He guessed and he made it very clear he guessed. So take a chill pill and realize that every second you spent on learning the NBA’s new cba (or whatever it is) was an enormous waste of time.

Relax. He made a ridiculous comment and I simply pointed that out. He doubled down on that with his reply to my comment and I gave more context and highlighted what he was doing.

That’s sort of how this message board thing works. And for the record, I wouldn’t expect anyone to understand the CBA unless they had a professional reason for doing so. But if believe that I expect that of other posters, then you missed the point.

That said, perhaps you should consider taking your own advice on the chill pill thing. This is a message board.

Yeah, I read the whole conversation. You’re the one that came off as a jerk. I’m not going to spell it out for you or argue about it with you. Message board or not, how you talk to people has a great effect on how others respond to you. If you don’t like the responses you’re getting (and it seems that way in this case) look first in the mirror.

Have a good night and feel free to have the last word. I’m moving on to other threads and topics.

When the poster he was replying to felt compelled to drag a political statement into a basketball thread, he prolly felt compelled to put his a$$ in its place. I don’t disagree with the tactic.

Remember… this is a league that thinks Fred VanVleet is worth 43 million a year, fully guaranteed.

There is no rationality or logic left.
Thank you…100%

I’m sorry this nba is a few steps down talent wise then the 90s. Paying a poor shooting,
Middle school handles wing player in Chris Livingston any kind of money is such silliness

If people want to pretend nba product is a great product….you’re kidding yourself. The amount of bad players making these contracts is just getting more and more

So if you make a political joke in a basketball thread you deserve to be scorned and ridiculed? And you think that makes you the better man/poster?

Interesting takes.

Btw, that joke didn’t side track the thread or make it political. That little one liner would’ve died and gone unnoticed until you gave it new life.

Congrats to the kid! I wish he would’ve came back to school because I thought it would’ve benefited him, but with that type of money I don’t blame the kid.

Bro, you went in on him and he wasn’t even talking to you. Chill

Good for him. I hope he gets good monetary advice and keeps trying to improve. Bucks a good organization to be associated with.
Milwaukee is a beautiful city. I know a lot of people make fun of it but the downtown area is gorgeous. There's not a lot of people that live there either, so you can walk freely around the city without much of a threat of danger. I went down there for the first time this summer and absolutely loved it.
