Chris Fisher changed his pick to UK for Bolden

Not that we were having trouble getting bigs... but Anthony Davis being an elite NBA player plus Karl Towns leapfrogging Okafor has helped us a lot. To the point, where we will probably have to turn down a few really good bigs.

Now we need Fox to commit, have a GREAT freshman season so Cal can get the PG recruiting swag back! And getting Ulis/Murray/Briscoe drafted will help with that too..

Bolden seems to be getting tired of the recruiting process too (mentioned in the draft express video from another thread). Perhaps he will be the guy on UK's radar to announce next? All just speculation of course...

What's Bolden's game like? From vids and scouting reports, I sense a little Randolph Morris in him.

If Marques Bolden attends Big Blue Madness, that'll be two campus/two coaches visits in a 6-week span. Kentucky putting on full-court press.

Starting to look like we could have a really BIG team next year. Oh and if we get Giles it would be a shot to the heart of Dukies. I know it wont happen, but I can dream.

Still have a lot of people picking Duke, who knows...good news that we are getting BBM visit though.

He's a toolsy prospect in that he doesn't really do anything bad for a center. He rebounds, he runs the floor well, he has size and hands, and he's pretty athletic. His best asset is that he is more of a finesse scorer around the basket and he's pretty skilled in that regard. He brings some slick post moves. But he doesn't have much range and he could stand to get stronger like most incoming post guys. Very high ceiling.

I've read some comparisons to Al Horford and Cole Aldrich.

This one only seems like a matter of time.

Duke totally thought Bolden and Gabriel were going to be playing for the Rat but not so fast

I'll be honest and admit I'm no recruiting insider nor do I have that sort of information at my disposal, so I just go by my own gut and a few random things that get scattered here and there. I initially had that thought on Gabriel when he first got the Duke offer, but then when Javin DeLaurier was offered and committed, I kinda thought Gabriel would go somewhere else. I've never had a real feel on Bolden other than he's down to Duke and Kentucky with maybe a slight chance he surprises and picks Kansas. Although I do think the KU fan who has good information seems to be thinking Bolden to Kentucky ATM. If I'm remembering that correctly, I'd put the odds at something like 50 percent for UK, 45 percent for Duke and maybe 5 percent for KU.

Harry Giles is the one Duke fans have been feeling confident about for this year's class. I'm more confident Duke will land one of Wendell Carter or Mohamed Bamba in the 2017 class than I am about them landing Bolden, which I'm giving at best a 50/50 chance if I wanted to be kind and give Kansas no shot at all.

I thought Gabriel was a lock for Duke until the last few days before he committed.

I've always kind of thought, from everything I've read, that Bolden was pretty open.

I think what's starting to happen with Duke is some of what we've dealt with at UK for the last few seasons. And that is that every recruit we get involved with, "insiders" automatically label us the leader without any real knowledge of the players thought process.

I think that's definitely what has happened with Bolden and Duke and may have happened with Gabriel as well.

Thought most still seem to think that Gabriel genuinely favored Duke and had a late change of heart. His comments after committing don't exactly jive with that idea however.

They were definitely one of his two favorites. Only thing which surprised me a bit was he didn't mention Maryland at all; at least not as a close third. Obviously they were a very distant third (at best) when I thought they were more in the running than that.

When I watched Bolden, I can't help but think of a Dakari Johnson type player. I've not watched a video yet where he's done anything other than shoot hooks with both hands or dunk the ball. I've not seen post moves and counter moves. I've not seen an incredibly skilled player (although I'm sure he is). I've seen a guy that just gets it and goes up with it.

The little bit I've watched of Bolden I think he has a higher ceiling then Dakari. He has 3" wingspan (edit:advantage) on him and he looks to jump and move better then Dakari. But you are right, he's definitely more that type of player because he's has some girth and he's not entirely quick twitch and bouncy.

He was just at the USABasketball camp, he seemed to get pretty positive press from the tweets and articles I've read.
Jarrett Allen got decent reviews too.... just in case he's a fallback.

I'm still holding out hope for Adebayo...if that happens I don't think we would land both Bolden and Adebayo even though they are different type players. Bolden may fit next years team better since we are already have SKJ and Gabriel.

Randolph Morris as a junior was the best pure center UK had since Sam Bowie. Dude was money. Thinky he averaged about 17 and 7 that year.

I do not believe UK can land both Bolden and Giles. I thought they may pull it off, then I got to thinking.... if Giles picks Duke (and I think he will) there's no chance he plays anything other than C. Coach K has never proven to play someone his size at anything other than C. Shit... Cal played someone his size (and similar skills set) at SF last year.

I think K has played guys who are 6'9 at positions other than center...?

Some of our fans in the past have poked at a couple of UK fans that were wanting as many players as possible in the NBA and this is proof of that being important. Think about it. If you're a post player coming out of highschool right now, which NBA big would you be trying to play like? I think most would agree with Davis being that guy. When you're recruiting a kid and its close and coming down to two schools, when one school has Davis calling and talking up that school, you know it has to help. It surely can't hurt. Davis is going to turn out to be one of, if not the most important recruit Kentucky has had play for them since Mashburn. For the next 15 years, he's going to be our Ace and I'm thankful he's a car. His NBA success is going to help Kentucky. The better he gets, the better for Kentucky. Thank god we landed this kid and he's very vocal about Cal and Kentucky. Not only did he bring us a title, but he's also going to be our lead recruiter. I know its supposed to be illegal, but Jordan did the same for UNC for a decade or more.

Well said.
