Choke-lahoma

Great game..two of the 3 best teams out there right now with UNC....Doubt KU will want to see them away from home though

So, looking at Cheick Diallo and Carlton Bragg, jr and Diallo is averaging approx.6 mins and 3.0ppg and 0.1 rpg. Bragg has played in 13 games and has 2.9ppg and 0.8rpg. I know Diallo sat out 4 or 5 games but is Self holding both back for next year. I thought both of these boys were in the 1st round of most NBA Mock Draft Boards for 2016. UK sure would have used DIallo for at least 30 minutes a game once he was ruled eligible. I have heard both are unhappy with their playing time at Kansas and Coach Self.

Why any top 10 recruit would go to KU i have no idea...

The problem was nobody could hit the game winning shot. Both teams had chances to win the game, but they just couldn't get one to fall. By the 14th overtime they could barely stand up from the exhaustion. It was one of the best games I have watched in a long time.

Great game, no one choked. OU and KU are both very good teams. Both teams made some very big shots

I thought it was a great game. The only hint of a choke was the missed free throw to win the game in regulation, and It could have just been a missed free throw, rather than a choke. Two really good teams, that played their butts off. Probably the two best teams in the country, at least, right now.

Diallo has been visibly upset on the bench when he's not played much. Last night wasn't one of those but against Oregon State and Saturday vs Baylor he wasn't happy not getting more time. He's been rather terrible though when he's seen the floor. On offense he's a black hole. Saturday he took 4 straight guarded jumpers after he made the 1st when he was in the game and didn't look once to pass it out. Self yanked him after the 4th shot. He's missed defensive assignments and gives up way too many offensive rebounds because he tries to block EVERYTHING. It creates a nice play every once in a while but in the mean time puts him way out of position defensively.

Not sure where you've heard Bragg is unhappy. Bragg is one of the biggest cheerleaders on the bench every game. Dude has a great attitude and he knows he'll be starting next year. He plays based on matchups.

I'm not looking forward to our game there

LOL, what?? Why? The big game matchups in the regular season are always a blast and extremely exciting. Were you not looking forward to Duke or UL this year? What in the world are you guys talking about. I get thinking we may not win, but not even looking forward to what will be a really fun and exciting bball game? What?

Great game...certainly nobody choked. Refs were bad for both sides with several really bad missed calls.

My vote is for the former, considering Lattin is only shooting 54 percent for the season.

In basketball, one team wins and the other loses. That doesn't mean they can't both play well. That game was full of back-and-forth, big shots, and clutch plays all the way to the final buzzer. Instant classic.

Yeah, like someone said, if a guy that shoots 52% from the line misses a free throw, that's not a choke, that's doing about what you'd expect. They guy who's shooting 82% that misses - that's a choke.

The competitor in me - the guy that wanted OU to win - was a little frustrated that Hield didn't get a touch on some of the last possessions and had a couple of bad, and harmful, turnovers down the stretch. That's not choking either, that's being exhausted after playing 50+ minutes and expending the effort necessary to get 46 when you're the focus of the opponent's D. Two outstanding teams, exemplary game. That place is about like Rupp for a visiting opponent - it's just really, really hard to win there.

The kid who missed the free throw was a 52 percent shooter from the line if they had been in the double bonus he might have had the chance to choke. He shot it long. Coach Rupp's used to say if you left it short you might have choked. But if it was long you gave it your best shot.

I really liked the first sentence of your post, I was about to hit the like button. Then I read your comment about the refs. Can we have one thread where we can talk about a game and not rag on the refs? I saw nothing wrong with the job the refs did, they let both teams play, they didn't decide the game. If they called every foul 10 other guys on here would be crying.
Can we all just agree that the officials are part of the game and that it is impossible for them to do a good job in the eyes of most fans from all teams?

Have you considered the possibility that Self does not allocate playing time based on NBA Mock Draft boards? In case you hadn't noticed, the guys playing ahead of Bragg and Diallo have been mighty damn good this year, I'm guessin that's what Self is seeing, not mock draft boards.

[laughing] Mighty damn good? Traylor/Lucas/Mickelson? Mighty damn good? On what planet? Kansas is playing well because their veteran forwards Selden/Ellis have made the leap (shooting ridiculously, I might add), their guards are relentless and their wings can shoot. Their veteran bigs are marginal at best.

The only one who choked was the op creating this thread. This game reminded me a lot of the Texas/okst game durant played in that game was incredible

You know what I like about you, kyjeff? It's the fact that you (also Aike, SilentsareGolden) speak your mind honestly. Everyone may not agree with what you (or anybody else) posts, and that's OK. You don't let people run roughshod over your views. One of a person's better attributes I believe. Keep up the fight.
