Cheick Diallo

I think he would be quite a compliment to Skal, I'm all on board with this if Cal offers that's good enough for me... St Johns and Pitt like to recruit tough kids too, I'm sure this guy would fit great in Lexington, let's reel him in!

From this part of the article he sounds a lot like MKG.

It's his energy," Daniels told the Herald-Leader. "Nobody in high school basketball plays harder than Cheick Diallo. He brings it every time he steps on the court. You know he's always going to make an impact on the backboard. You know he's always going to run the floor and use his athleticism around the basket. He's going to contest shots.

Boston, I will be somewhat surprised if Zimmerman will be the last commitment from a big man. I could easily be mistaken, but I think Calipari may very well take two more big men to go with Skal, especially as an insurance policy due to Skal's handler.

i think people are going to be surprised at who returns. just like last year when everyone assumed 5, 6 guys would leave after 1 year.....doubt very much that happens.

Boston I would be ecstatic if Lyles of Dakari, I'm expecting Marcus too, and I guess this whole deal with Poy is up in the air for now... I see no way that Willie or Towns returns though

Maybe. Or could it be an even bigger fish- Thon Maker?

The comments that came from Maker's guardian last month have been discussed surprisingly little. What I read certainly made it sound like they're trying hard to get him into the 2015 class, and were very, very positive for UK.

Lee and Dakari.

I love Dakari, but he's not ready, and unless he burns up the rest of the season, I don't believe scouts will think so either.

WCS and Towns wont be back.

Yeah Willie and Towns are for sure gone, but if we could return Lyles, Lee and Dakari, then goodness gracious... All we would need is Skal at that point, wouldent be much room for Zimm, but you never know I guess

I think this will be our class:

G Briscoe
G Newman
G Matthews
F Brown
F Labissiere
C Zimmerman

At least I hope that will be our class.

Subtract Brown and I would agree with you. I just don't have any faith in top Adidas kids, and he's the biggest one of them all.

I think Lyles will make the jump also. We all know that G.M's draft on potential, which is something Trey has alot of. I hope he decides to stay another year to polish his game to possibly be a top 10 pick in the 2016 draft.

Trey has something that not too many guys who jump early have, and that's refined skill... He could make a killing in the NBA with that little 15 foot jumper, the way the guys move the ball around in the league

I want big Z and I think that's who Cal wants too.

So no.

Big Z will be part of this class and IMO Swanigan will be the other PF we add. WE must add 2 more bigs IMO as we lose WCS , Towns , Lyles and maybe Dakari although i am not totally sold on him leaving . So you replace WCS with Skal ,Lyles with Swanigan and Towns with Z . If Dakari leaves that is ok as Poy and Lee will be back as well. i think our class will defintely have

Zimmerman
Newman
Briscoe
Matthews
Skal
Swanigan ( or maybe Diallo)
and possibly Brown . If i was betting i would bet on us getting Brown but i guess he might go to UCLA . It is either us or UCLA though IMO he won't go to KU or UNC .

Must? Only if platoon 2 is coming in 15-16. And I'm not sure Cal wants to do that. Labissierre, Lee, another big, and Poythress would work just fine for any normal rotation.

Keep in mind Skal is not a guarantee at this second. I know how some feel about that, but it's still the truth. There are some unanswered questions regarding that. The ncaa rules ridiculously all the time.

Reinforcement is never a bad thing.

We need some bigs with some offensive skills. Diallo doesn't bring that. Swanagan does. Dakari does not and Lee does not. We need Skal and Zimmerman and Swanagan and/or Rabb to keep the front line in tact. Be exciting to see how this plays out.

Good point. And No MJ obvious not MUST but it would be needed and yes i can't see how we don't platoon next year IF anyone besides Lee and Ulis come back if you have a team of

Ulis/Briscoe
Newman/Matthews
Booker and or Brown / Willis
Poythress'/Skal and or Swanigan
Lee/Zimmerman and or Dakari

you gotta platoon or their will be alot of unhappy campers but more importantly if you have all those players it is too your advantage to play them all . Now if we lose 8 to the NBA then no .

I would not lose any sleep if he chooses to go somewhere else.

I'd rather have several other bigs in this class than Diallo. He is high energy but has a lot of problems with guys bigger than him. He looks to me like he is 6'8 200. Gets lost in the trees and the half court game. Better in transition and needs that offense to thrive in to get run outs or oops.

Ulis, Booker, Hawkins, Poythress, Lee and Willis are all coming back. You have Briscoe, Matthews, and Labissiere coming in. I doubt Cal is intending to do this again. He's just trying to make the best of an unforeseen scenario. I bet we get another perimeter player, and wait and see what the frontcourt situation is. If someone unexpectedly comes back, I doubt we get another big.

I don't see Willis, Hawkins, and Matthews ever being in a position to demand playing time. I doubt any of them ever play that much, unless we miss out on some recruits.

There are 3 players in the future that I want at UK, And if we get them, I'm good with anything else. Whatever.

1. Newman
1. Zimmerman
Also 1. Maker

I actually think this board has vastly underrated Newman through the last year. It's been surprising.

Diallo is the kid that Slice was in on big-time before he came to UK

I would put him in the "probably" category to matriculate to Kentucky when it's all said and done

All these bigs are just waiting to see who comes back

In the end, I see us having four quality Freshman bigs: Skal, Big Zim, Swanigan and Diallo

That, of course, moves Lee and Willis into a six-man rotation which boggles the mind, but I think it's coming

And don't forget Poy who is going to be in the mix, too

yep

I hope we do.

Everything I've ever read is along the lines of "He's the hardest player in every game, he's the toughest guy in every game." You add that to an already top 10 prospect, and that's a guy I want as much as anyone else at the position.

I think we'll get Zimmerman.

Then WCS, Towns definitely go. I've been in the camp that said Johnson was a goner, but he certainly has had his lack of athleticism come into play some of late. I think Lyles goes, but maybe he'll want to go top 10 or 5 or whatever.

In any event, if we get a junior Johnson or Lyles back, I'll gladly take that

Neither of them are even remotely ready for the NBA, but unfortunately, that doesn't stop most players from declaring.

If there was ever a #2 pick who would come back wouldn't it be KAT? He loves this place and I think it is genuine

I'm not really sold on Diallo. I'm kind of burned out on bigs that can block shots but can't score unless it is on tip-ins or lobs. That's kind of one of our weaknesses this year.

It's also why I'm intrigued by the idea of a front court of Skal, Zimm, Lee, and Swanigan, and perhaps Poy. You've got a little bit of everything there, and a lot of different looks you can put on the floor. To me, Diallo is just a more raw Marcus Lee, whereas Zimm gives us something we don't have now.

I'm not sure how any player ranked as highly as Diallo could be more raw offensively than Marcus. I love Marcus as a player, but he is not offensively gifted, at least to this point. If Diallo is more raw offensively, someone might have to show him where the baskets are actually located.

I think the point is, we haven't had a lot of luck taking these guys who are poor on offense and making decent offensive weapons out of them. I kind of think shooting ability is something you either have or don't have, and it's almost impossible to teach.

With Zimm, I see a guy who has that knack on offense, who is skinny but broad-shouldered. He still has the body of a gawky teenager, but I could see him getting Davis level muscular/wiry by the time he's around 21. I see immense potential, and I suspect Cal does too. He's also already had the experience of being on a team with a very good Center and not always being the man. That's more important than I think many realize - I think his transition to college is going to be pretty seamless.

zimmerman just has a great feel for the game. can shoot it from 18 feet, put the ball on the floor, use post moves with his back to the basket. legit 7 footer who moves really really well....case closed for me.

I have seen very little of Zimmerman but what I have seen he looks great. It seems it is hard for UK to get player from the west coast but we have had a few. How do you feel our chances are for Zimmerman ?

Are you worried that there is a little Isaiah Austin in him?
