@ChrisMWilliams: Hearing a lot of Cheick Diallo/Kentucky buzz. ORDER GUESS: 1: Kentucky, 2: Kansas, a close 3: St. John’s. 4: Iowa State. #Cyclones #Big12

@ChrisMWilliams: Also on Diallo: Lots, lots, LOTS of moving parts. Still wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at KU. St. John’s/ISU would both surprise me.

He might not know anything, but just throwing these tweets out there....

So, he's saying UK leads, but wouldn't be suprised if it's KU. Hope he is careful out on that limb.

Sounds good to me. Bring on Diallo, either Ingram/Brown, and Murray then next year's team could be awesome.

I could very well be reading too much into this but I think it's a good sign that he asked to meet with Cal yesterday and then announces today that his recruiting is over.

I may have misunderstood this, but I thought Diallo asked to meet with Cal before his meeting with Cal and Payne this past weekend. I believe the "he asked to meet with Cal" thing was just reported (unless it was simply a rumor) yesterday.

Could be wrong though.

The ineligible thing is about the NCAA not counting Diallo's school credits. The rumor is that they are "invalid"

Per another site there is a chance Diallo could be academically ineligible.

Was it a KU site? If it starts to look like it's UK, then rumors like that will start flying. I heard they were super confident about him, but they always are about every recruit.

I thought Jamal Murray was a point guard? Is he actually a SG or SF? We don't need any more PGs

Sounds good, but gotta take it with a grain of salt that it's an Iowa State writer, might be wishful thinking that Diallo doesn't end up playing for a conference rival.

Also gotta love that there's "ineligibility rumors" being spread now that it's possible Kentucky leads. LOL. Never change, UK haters. Never change.

Listed as a shooting guard. I would be ok if we went with a 3 guard lineup of Ulis, Briscoe and Murray. Don't think you could zone us, and all of them are capable of driving and dishing. Murray and Briscoe could also finish at the rim.

Have been gone most of the morning so I he announcing today ?

He posted on twitter last night thanking all of the coaches that have recruited him these past few years. Basically most people got the impression that his recruitment process is over, he's heard all the sales pitches, and that he's either made a decision or is in the process of making a decision and might announce where he will be attending college by the end of the week.

If, by chance, we get Diallo and Brown - probably pre-season #1 again.

Diallo
Brown
Skal
Briscoe
Ulis

Poythress
Lee
Mulder

No one touches that.

That is a preseason #1 team if I ever saw one. BUT.....im sick of pre season #1's that end with us not being the end of year #1. I could care less what we are preseason as long as we are making noise at the end.

I agree, being #1 at the end is what counts - but we have had a great run, you have to admit. If Cal keeps the tempo up, we play Duke in the title game, IMO.

I agree that the #1 preseason ranking isn't any kind of main goal, but I disagree with folks who say it's meaningless.

It means that you've assembled a roster with potential, and that counts for something. Most of the teams who begin in the top five are at least in the conversation as the year goes on.

Last season was a killer. 2010 was a killer. 2011 and '14 were huge surprises. 2012 ended pretty much how we thought it was. 2013 was brutal but aided by an injury. All began with very high preseason rankings. I just want a shot.

Regardless of the outcome you gotta love that UK has positioned itself so well for Diallo
I would say we were positioned well with all of our targets, but we have only signed 3 so far.....as someone else said, it only counts if you sign them, nobody remembers who comes in 2nd

In the goofiest recruiting year I can remember, this, if true, would be the most positive vibe for Kentucky that I've read in quite some time regarding the 2015 class.

Agitating that if we don't get a guy in the early period the ones we get or don't get in the spring seems to drag on and on. Can't be anything simple like Duke saying they was going Monday to get Thornton and he commits the next day. Most of the guys we are going after in the late signing periods seem they are always so confused of what they should do.

Yea, Duke and UNC always seem to land their guys early, although most of the guys they are landing (outside of last year's Duke recruits) are not one and done types anyway.

I just can't believe the pipeline that USA Basketball has become for K. Folks can say what they want, but that's one of the biggest recruiting advantages in all of college basketball. It's no coincidence that the rise of Duke and Arizona has coincided with K's and Miller's USA B-Ball positions.

yet who has been to 4 final 4's in 5 years ? Not K or Miller.

I just can't believe it is a coincidence that he has Cal in for a visit AND THEN he tweets he is done with recruiting and thanks everyone . That is a sign right guys? or am i just reading tea leaves like i am known to ?
He met with Self and St Johns just before, like the day before. So Cal was the last of the remaining coaches to meet with him. He had said he was nearing a decision after the Jordan game. Well, he met with all 3 major players and he's done.

Come on though - K has now won two titles in 6 years. Does that trump 4 Final Fours? Probably not, but it's not like he is some scrub coach.

Well, to be fair, throw in a title and a runner-up and two final fours if we're going to compare for UK.

Always found that curious- counting F4s but never mentioning runners-up.

Cal seems be hitting 2016 extremely hard early with most of the best of the best so maybe there won't be much to do next spring on the recruiting front.

To be fair K has been to two final fours in that span and has two ships. K is a great coach, but his resurgence in recruiting can be attributed to USA basketball.

listen obviously K is amazing i wasn't saying otherwise but to act like Cal isn't on the exact same level is insane RIGHT NOW. Now in 93 K was light year's better then Cal but now i wouldn't take anyone over Cal if i was a 17 year kid who had a chance to play in the NBA as the numbers show if you play for Cal you play for pay eventually. But really wish we could have one freaking thread without mentioning ratface.
