Changes to be made to UK basketball court

Bitching on a message board over and over again isn't going to change a thing. It's just tiresome reading the same thing in every thread when everyone knows damn well that nothing is going to change.

Naw I hear ya. But if no one was bitching this shiz would be boring.

That's why I'm now bitching about the bitching from the people bitching about the bitchers........I'm sick of people bitching about my right to bitch and then bitching about it.

**this post was not designed to use cursing language against board policy.**

Who's the genius that came up with the idea of adding checkers to every single thing? It was bad enough on the uniforms and now it has to be on the court too? Rupp's floor was fine. Update mid-court to the weak new logo and be done with it

Someone under the age of 26. Times change and youth wins. We are recruiting 16,17,18 year olds. Sorry I won't get off your lawn.

Didn't Nike do it?

Probably a 38 year old with a Bachelors in marketing that knows someone that knows Phil knight and he got them the gig. I'm thinking a Washington state grad, red hair, stupid face, semi hot 29 year old wife (don't look at her nose), Dallas Texas style Hollywood suit ( southern Prep), and a bow tie 3 days a week, open button on Thursdays, off work Friday through Sunday. Kinda thinkin a name like Ryan, or Tim, maybe a little off brand like Conders. Or just Conders Ryan. Yea, that's prolly close.

I freakin hate guys like him.

We are better than a checkerboard design theme. The majority of fans think it has gone from a subtle nod to acknowledge horse racing to over the top. Give it a rest!
Have a contest to see who can design a new court and jersey. I bet the idea with the most votes would look traditional and classy. The court and jersey don't require additional graphics. KISS-Keep it Simple Stupid.
Somebody ask Cal about this.

Do these design changes get test marketed or is it just Barney sitting in a room with Nike telling them what he likes?

As much as I dislike the teams that have done it, I really like the state outlines. Hoping for that.

Yep. It's not hard. UNC and Indiana's courts are pretty much perfect. And haven't changed in forever.

Oh well, like I said above it could be much worse.

Fwiw, UK had checkered end zones in the 1930s. UT didn't adopt them until 1964. Other schools had them, too like Alabama.

Here's a pic of Stoll Field

I still wish the old roaring Wildcat would come back, at least as secondary logo. The current UK logo I guess it works as center court, but have the roaring Wildcat logos in the old 90s placement. The current logo by comparison is rather generic. :(

Gotta be careful and not get caught up in being the classic gold standard unwilling to spice things up like Alabama football. Those guys had to take a couple of 4 stars due to their boring uniforms.

so, if we WERE to use a state outline in the middle of the court, could we cut out Jefferson County? Of course, it would be out of respect for those who don't think the Metro is part of this state
[winking]

I kind of hope they go all out like Oregon. But have the Appalachians outlined and cover the whole floor, with the state outline at center court. Maybe paint a bunch of wildcats in the corners and different spots in the mountains. Really add flair to it, not just a make over. Oregons was just a forest like theme with a bunch of trees, we need mountains and wildcats.
The western half of the state is reasonably flat.

I'm in favor of getting rid of these other symbols and whatnot that are supposed to represent the state.

Pretty sure the checkerboard came in under Clyde. Homage to horse racing colors/jockeys. They were on the shorts in Year 2, I think.

As a guy that is die hard uk and grew up in tennessee, the checkerboard crap is seen as copy/paste around tn. Why did we ever start that ish.

Yeah, hate it. It's like we copy catted TN. Think of them when I see it. Would like to see the state at mid court. We are Kentucky.
