Chandler's hot shooting

I think it was Troy where Chandler pump-faked and side-stepped his defender, and I said it was out of Brea's handbook. Sure enough, they both commented on it and Chandler sure enough has been watching and learning from Brea.

If he can become a shot maker like Brea, it's gonna get ugly for opponents next year. This is something we rarely ever heard of while Cal was here – an upperclassman teaching anything to the freshmen. It was just raw iron sharpening raw iron with freshmen practicing against freshmen. No, I'm not railing against Cal. I still respect the hell out of him despite how things went sour. I'm just stating observations.

It's a thing of beauty, and something I think will benefit Pope's teams in the long run.

What happened to him!? It's like a switch suddenly turned on in his head.

One day, he appeared tentative and out of his league. And then the next, he's launching 30-footers with complete confidence. Then he jogs to the other end of the court with no emotion, like, "this is just what I do now." Crazy!

Chandler has been hot for a full month of games....so this has been huge development for UK. Just having Chandler spell Butler vs. Perry has made a significant difference in the defense and part of why those defensive metrics are improving.

"Chandler has made at least one three-pointer in his last six games now. Going back to Kentucky’s win over Vanderbilt on Feb. 19, he’s been a full-time member of the rotation. He’s shooting 13-26 (50 percent) from deep during that 10-game span playing 15 minutes per outing."

He hit his first 3 pointer one game. And then he hit another. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Pope knew and that's why he kept playing him. Pope said earlier in the season that during practice Chandler's shooting was phenomenal. It just wasn't translating over to games early on.

Maybe it’s a recognition of need? With Robinson out, he understands he’s needed to step up.

I noticed Chandler's athleticism when I first saw him play. It was obvious that he had the ability to compete at a high level. Now it seems that he's used this season to bring his skills up to match his athleticism. I'd like to see him come back for another year. I get the feeling that his skill development has just begun. It's obvious that he's been working on them. If he keeps improving like he has so far he could be a serious impact player.

Confidence combined with skill seems to have evolved for Chandler. I see him in many ways opposite of Perry who appears uncertain and thinking too much. Chandler is demonstrating he feels he belongs and Perry just defers and his occasional shots appear unsure. In another way to say it Chandler grew a pair and Perry hasn't.

He is gaining confidence with every minute played. Face it a 2 year layoff was a long time away from real time game situation.

This plus that 2yr gap was in between making jump from HS to D1 which is hard enough. Mentally, the game is starting to slow down out there for him a bit. He will be a good one. Just staying in from of your man, not turning the ball over and knocking down open looks is huge for the team right now.

Both 3s he made yesterday were deep 3s. He said he did not realize how deep they were and now knows thats why he was open. lol
Guy is going to come over half court one day for a heat check 3 and we all will lose our minds. lol

Way back in the Blue & White game Chandler actually led the team in made threes. I was disappointed when that didn’t continue into the season, but now I am optimistic that is his standard mode and he had to work off some dust and nerves to get up to that same speed in games.

Hit our open shots.

all of them. free throws too.

This team is unbeatable if they all are on at the same time. Which would basically be impossible, wouldn't it?

But I don't see why not. Chandler's confidence is great, they all should be confident and make their open shots. Why ? Because they can. Go out there and have fun !

Go Big Blue !

Watching his progression this season has been nothing short of amazing. Gone from barely coming off the bench after 2 years off, became a serviceable option off the bench. Now is a legit difference maker on both ends of the floor with his improvement as a defender, his shot has improved, and better yet emerged as a backup PG to Butler.

Yeah that was his weakness, we never had any talent left over to teach the new guys. I suspect that’s why Arkansas turned the season around because guys like Wagner have finally started to get the college game. He’s starting to finish plays he didn’t last year.

I knew when he shot that his confidence is really high again. I love it.

The way he played Pre season he looked to be a top 5 player on the team. He is starting to play like it now.

Im guessing 2 years away from competitive basketball can make one kind of rusty. That rust is gone and Collin is clearly confident af now. His defense was tremendous.
I think it's funny that the opposing teams players that he is assigned to guard think they are going to have a good time by just looks.

Any answer as to why he only played 18 mins and basically none in the second half?
Oweh was in foul trouble first half, that probably why he played as much as he did. But he is really showing flashes of what could be next year!

I’ve been screaming at my tv ever since Robinson went down that we needed someone who would be willing to take those really deep threes. It’s really helpful to have defenders have to think about defending the entire half court the entire possession and that was a dynamic that we lost with Robinson’s injury. Chandler gives you that, and it’s something I believe Johnson will bring you next year as well
