Chandler Minutes

Who knows what happens but obviously the transfer portal makes it much, much more likely that not a kid who feels underutilized leaves.

Had a good pre-season and looked to be a contributor but has lost some confidence since season started which is not unusual for new guys. The outside shot not going in can lead to a lot of that lost confidence. In his case it seems to have caused him to be tentative on his what he's good at (drive game) too. He'll have to work at getting that back but in the meantime we're in too tough of competitive games to give to many minutes to struggling guys. But he'll get there. Like I say the players all say he stood out in camp, scrimmage games etc. so he has game.
Would love to see him come in and have a solid game soon. You never know when injuries could force him into a larger than expected role. Kind of like Perry now..

I have a feeling this one might transfer to BYU next year. That's just a gut feeling.

Depends on the wife. If she is okay with a move to lexington then the kid will be back. I think all 3 freshmen will be much better next year.

I'm not concerned about Chandler in the slightest. If anything, it's the opposite. I'm actually really excited about him. A multi-year guy who loves the name on the front of the jersey and seemingly has what it takes to develop into somethings special? Yes, please!

He maybe one of the very few that care about the name on the jersey. That's where we are now in college sports.

I believe we are too big a stage to relearn basketball and he will be back out west (probably BYU) with his wife next year.

Obviously with his fiance in Utah, that will weigh HEAVILY on his future location, but he doesn't seem to be a kid who is a high transfer possibility.

He seems to enjoy his time playing for UK, but more importantly, he speaks SO HIGHLY of Pope, and with their both being Mormon, that connection/mentorship goes way beyond basketball. I would think Pope's wife would be such a great mentor for Chandler's fiance (wife if they marry soon).

Agree. But there are plenty of Mormon mentors at BYU . Hopefully his fiancé/wife will be willing to move here . I mean , if you’re a Mormon, seems like BYU is the place to be . Just being real.

I agree about plenty of Mormon mentors at BYU. My point was just that unlike many players who are transferring, Chandler's connection with Pope appears to go much deeper than just basketball...a draw that may be likely (compared to many players) to keep him in Lexington as he develops.

Not saying he won't transfer... from what little info I've seen, he just doesn't seem as likely to me.

Hope you’re right. I can see it going either way. Always makes me nervous when there’s a woman involved, lol . Complicates things . I would feel better if Chandler loved be a bachelor on a campus where you’re allowed to “interact “ with coed’s. lol

I know Collin is probably still getting his feet under him, but should we be concerned that he isn’t getting at least some meaningful playing time recently? He seems to be somewhat in awe of the of the situation rather than more steady given his age.

Do you think he would be a potential transfer candidate? I don’t want to push him out after half a season, but he just doesn’t seem comfortable to me. He has really been struggling with his shot and while he gives effort, he gets lost on D a lot, maybe more so than Perry.

I am afraid that Pope is going to continue to recruit well enough that he may struggle to find minutes in subsequent seasons. Your thoughts, especially those who may be closer to the program who can share what his demeanor is on the bench and away from the court.

I was really high on him when he got here. I think he has potential. It just doesn’t appear he is making progress.
It seems to me Noah is as good as him if not better. Noah is a tough cookie and a really good shooter.

The only hole in your logic is this is Mormonism we are talking about. No need to worry about a single wife tying my man down
