I know Collin is probably still getting his feet under him, but should we be concerned that he isn’t getting at least some meaningful playing time recently? He seems to be somewhat in awe of the of the situation rather than more steady given his age.

Do you think he would be a potential transfer candidate? I don’t want to push him out after half a season, but he just doesn’t seem comfortable to me. He has really been struggling with his shot and while he gives effort, he gets lost on D a lot, maybe more so than Perry.

I am afraid that Pope is going to continue to recruit well enough that he may struggle to find minutes in subsequent seasons. Your thoughts, especially those who may be closer to the program who can share what his demeanor is on the bench and away from the court.

I think he will be a solid player next year. Got to be incredibly difficult to no play basketball at all for a long period and pick up where you left off.
Don't know that he will ever be a star. But like the other Freshmen. I think they will all be solid contributors eventually

Since living in Alabama and not being rich does not allow me to see them in person, it is great to hear that he looks to still be engaged and cheerleading.

I'm not concerned about Chandler in the slightest. If anything, it's the opposite. I'm actually really excited about him. A multi-year guy who loves the name on the front of the jersey and seemingly has what it takes to develop into somethings special? Yes, please!

He maybe one of the very few that care about the name on the jersey. That's where we are now in college sports.

I think being away from basketball for 2 years, his last competeion was in high school, also came in late so didn't have much summer to work on his game. It's taking a while to get to where he wants and we want him to be, that' s a lot to ask at this point. I think he has a ton of upside we may not see it this season hopefully he returns but his fiance is from Utah so there' is that to consider,

I believe we are too big a stage to relearn basketball and he will be back out west (probably BYU) with his wife next year.

If he’s happy being here then I’m happy to have him. But he’s essentially unplayable currently and you have to recruit over him with how little he’s shown.

I posted after osu he was virtually unplayable vs good comp and that both perry and noah passed him up. Apparently, based on pt, the staff agreed. Hes going to see spot minutes at best for the remainder of the season.

His handle and shot are suspect and now he struggles finishing. Not a good combo. He isnt even young, which is concerning but we'll see how the off-season treats him.

I hope he stays around and continues to work on his game, however Noah deserves to be in before him in games. He’s basically giving us nothing in his time so what’s the worst Noah could do if given the same opportunity??? The only thing chandler does better is jump higher & I would love to see Noah out there with some of the better guys for more than just at the end of the game. The kid can shoot and has a great handle, one of the best basketball IQs we will ever see. I know his defense is his Achilles heel now but it’s not like chandler was locking anyone down either during his PT. I’m not knocking him, I just think Noah is better and will be better going forward.

Yeah I just don't think he has the greatest feel of the game and lacks ball handling. He needs to really focus on defense and knowing where to be and he could get spot minutes in years to come.

I hope he comes back but I don't think we will know whether he is transferring or not until the season is over. He isn't the type of guy to show that he is unhappy and etc. He is a good person and teammate and it just comes down to what he thinks is best for him personally.

He could be really good if he focuses on some of those areas because he has athleticism that stands out in certain areas.

Yeah, he might be the most athletic of the freshmen but I see a lot more potential in both Perry and Noah. Hopefully he's just really rusty and he'll get there. I'd said when Kriisa went down that one of the freshmen needed to step up and give us 8-10 minutes a game. Looks like that's Perry.

I think all our Freshmen are weak defenders. This is to be expected, I guess, as they learn and adapt to the college game. They all need to improve greatly. My defensive ranking is Perry, Chandler, Noah.

Folks may disagree, but I believe Perry is a slightly better overall defender than Kriisa.

Having said the above, I believe all of them need to consistently shoot well and avoid turnovers to help us in SEC play.

Chandler got more run early, but did not seem to improve dramatically. He has potential. I am just not sure he is going to get enough reps to realize that potential.

He got all kinds of playing time at the beginning of the season. It was very noticeable that Pope wanted to get him going. His problem is that he can't make a shot right now.....like ever.

Yes, I agree. Perry is a smart, savvy player and seems to understand his current role, learning and building confidence along the way. His ball-handling, being better than Robinson’s, has earned him the back-up PG minutes, in my opinion. Now, if he shoots like most here think he can, he can be a very reliable contributor.

No. He has a lot to learn and needs time to grow and to learn his role in high level college basketball. He'll be fine.

Also, whose minutes are you going to take away and give to him? Just not fitting into the rotation this year.

I agree with you. We will see if the name on the front of the jersey and what it means to play for Kentucky actually do mean as much as we think it should and believe it does. As you state, the monetary considerations will be primary and to deny that is foolish. It may well be that our program, even perhaps with Kentucky kids, is not immune to the money attraction and playing opportunities that NIL and the portal provide players in this new era. Sadly, roster turnover may end up being very similar to how it was with Calipari, just for different reasons. We do not want this to be the case, of course, but we have to be realistic. Hopefully, the attractiveness of our program will limit mobility and Pope can build his program based on player retention, player development and roster continuity ... and not on effective portal maneuvering to combat turnover. When kerr went down, they initially slid over jax and played chandler. As Chandler kept struggling, that plan shifted into just playing Perry.

So imo you were correct but recent arcs changed that.

Had a good pre-season and looked to be a contributor but has lost some confidence since season started which is not unusual for new guys. The outside shot not going in can lead to a lot of that lost confidence. In his case it seems to have caused him to be tentative on his what he's good at (drive game) too. He'll have to work at getting that back but in the meantime we're in too tough of competitive games to give to many minutes to struggling guys. But he'll get there. Like I say the players all say he stood out in camp, scrimmage games etc. so he has game.
