Chandler is not good enough

Chandler is a long play. He’ll be 21 next week. The player we want is the 25 year old senior. When he got here he looked painfully thin and not basketball fit. He appears to have added weight but not necessarily all good weight. He definitely needs some time to catch up on strength and conditioning. Basically now he has to play, BECAUSE THERE IS NOBODY ELSE! All three freshman bring something but nobody is head and shoulders above the others. This is part of Pope’s “navigation”.
My questions are does his impending marriage clear the way for him to return to an Utah school as Pope plans to recruit over or around him or is he here for the long haul. He does see the floor well but the shot is not there yet and is the best defender of the 3. Definitely TBD.

Chandler is probably one of our three best defenders right now. He’s just a complete offensive liability. Similar to how Perry can knock down a shot but is a complete defensive liability. Other teams go at Travis immediately as soon as he enters the game.
Yep, opposing guards are doing the same thing to Perry that opposing forwards used to do to Kyle Wiltjer.

It’s like he’s got a target on his back as soon as he comes in the game.

Chandler is the only guy who plays defense like it should be played. If folks like you show a little patience, you will see a significant change offensively in year 2.
Fools can be heard every day, people probably hear you twice a day.

I agree but he’s such a non factor offensively. If he gets back on the road he was at he could be a good player sometime we just need that player now unfortunately.

To put this in perspective, he has been worse than Devin Askew who reclassified up and played during Covid.

And I’ll even go back further, he’s been worse than the Michael Porter that we will never speak of.

He’s getting better on defense. Got some quicks and is fast. Could be good. Shows some nerves.

It’s tough being out of competitive bball for 2 years plus he didn’t play against this type older talent in Utah. Just hang in and work. Seems like a terrific young man.
Glad he’s with us

Then he should have red shirted and been given a year to shake off the rust but he has not looked like an SEC Freshman to me .

They were probably going to RS him until we started losing players left and right. Good thing we didn’t preemptively do it like you’re saying.
