Chalk Talk: Maggard Calls Missouri Game 'Season Defining'

Hard to disagree, you could make the same case for just about every game we play.Where we are vs where we are trying to get to makes each game that we have a reasonable chance to win a "must win".It is the next one on the list

Hard to fathom that. We might be 3-0, but beat Arkie State but 7 and and bad Uconn team at home by 3. Our defense is pretty good. If someone steps on offense we might play the Cats a close game. See you at the game. Doing Woodfard Reserve and horse park for sure. Is Shaker Village a must see?

For me, yes its a must see if you like historical things, etc.

Again, amazing as always the lack of respect given to Missouri who has won the SEC East the last 2 seasons and the fearful trembling given to a UT team that has gone 5-7, 7-6.

Isn't it something?

South Carolina was the most important game in school history. Then Florida was. Now Mizzou is. In 3 weeks it is the Thurs night national TV game against Auburn. Then @ MIss State will be THE DEFINING GAME of the Stoops/Dawson/Towles era. And then UT at Halloween will be it.

I get what youre saying and agree to a point. But this and the Florida game are games we SHOULD win. Theyre games we MUST win, if we want to climb the ladder. We can only be "on the rise" for so long, before we need to start selling results to recruits.SC was a great step. Now we must win 1 of the UF/Mizzou games. Then we're set up to really take a step on the national stage when we play Auburn on Thursday night.

This is really the first time in my life I can recall UK being poised to become a national contender. Brooks had a few great years, but even then we all sort of knew it was a good class or two full of diamonds in the rough; and not sustainable.

This is a game that is a tremendous opportunity. A win would make super start for the season but not define it, IMHO.
Too many games left to define anything at this point.

This is a big game, no other way to look at it IMO. They have won the east the last 2 years and if we want to get on their level we must beat them. Win this game and it gives us a win over a ranked opponent, and keeps us in the race for the east. We let a great opportunity slip away from us last week and cannot do it again this weekend.

I like Freddie and do not want to disagree with him, but if we beat Mizzou and beat a UGA or Auburn or a UT, I'd say that upset would be more defining than a win over Mizzou.

I definitely get the point, but it is so early and we are so young. The kids on defense have really matured up the last 3 weeks. How good can they get?

I do not disagree that this win is huge and a major step in the right direction.
I think it is defining because if we win we will have the mindset that we have a chance to beat anybody. Lose and our team probably adopts the mindset we have no chance to beat anybody presumed to be better.

I think you could be right, we may still be a bit fragile mindset wise.

I would say it is defining, will we show up and play like we feel like we belong or will show up and slug through another lack luster game on the offensive end their for showing that is just how we are going to be for the rest of the season. I think they are better then that and hope that the definition is that we are good and will only get better through the year.
