We probably wouldn’t, but I would also argue that we have ascended to top half SEC, so wouldn’t other conferences love to get a win over a high-mid SEC team, especially if they believe we are over ranked?
I read an article the other day that compared a bad Big 12 game with Kansas to a Kentucky and Missouri game. Nationally we still don't get the respect we deserve.

Stoops is an average coach but he’s one hell of a scheduler, managed to get a total cakewalk schedule in the SEC. They will struggle with UG ( even though they always play them tough ) and maybe FL but the rest should be wins

The conference schedule is determined by the division you play in and your permanent west opponent and then one random rotating opponent. The East has been weaker than the West for years but still has UGA and FL in it. I will also say we had coaches for 20+ years that didn't do what Stoops is doing with the same type of schedule in conference, not even Brooks.

Not sure how anyone can call Stoops an average coach, easily top 15 coach and could climb into the top 10, that's not average to me.

But to get the national respect UK fans want, going to have to upgrade the OOC schedule by adding another quality P5 opponent.

Maybe Stoops and the program can elevate the perception by continuing to win 9-10 wins including bowl wins over P5 teams like Penn St or Iowa.

I still think the schedule is ok for now until they start beating UF and UT more consistently.

Maybe from some dipshit sportswriters that don’t cover the SEC, but the coaches and SEC beat writers respect Stoops & Co.

That's a point I don't think a lot people realize. Other teams want "marquee" matchups too. A mid-level team sees UK as a no win opportunity. If they lose, it's a big loss on paper b/c many (if not most) national analyst don't see UK as a good football team/program, so it's viewed worse than a loss to "name" program like Florida State, Miami, LSU or FL... even if those teams were significantly down.

It's also this same point that some of our fans are lamenting... for this upcoming season, Miami-OH and Northern Illinois are projected to be two of the top (if not THE TWO top) teams in the MAC. With that said, does anyone think they couldn't play with and beat "name" teams or bottom feeders like ACC teams FSU, Duke, GT, or BC or Big 10 teams like Rutgers, IU, or Nebraska? Of course they could, and in 2021, NIU and Miami-OH would've actually been better wins than those P5 teams, but on paper, a Nebraska win looks stronger than NIU.

Bottom line, when a win is against P5 conference team Louisville, it doesn't count b/c "they stink", but if the win is against a good, upper level G5 team, it doesn't count b/c they weren't a team from a "name" conference. That perspective is no-win.
We don’t want to sleep on either of NIU or Miami. They will be very competitive games and fun to watch!
