Beggs dominates the game through 5 and has a 1-0 lead, and then two defensive errors allow UT to take the lead in the 6th.

UK gets one in top 7th and threatening for more and Hairston with just horrible baserunning and gets thrown out for the second time today. Sit his ass on the bench.

Beggs rolls through the 7th. Mahan utilizes the wind to get a double over the left fielder's head and then Cottam with a double down third base line to drive him in. Cottam on 3rd with 1 out and a 3-2 Cats lead.

Vols going to bullpen.

That didn't work out so well for them. Shelby drives in Cottam. Now there has been another hit, a wild pitch, and a walk. Bases are loaded with 2 outs. Vols going to pen again with Recks at plate. 4-2 Cats.

Cats win 5-4, but it got real interesting in the bottom of the 9th. Beggs gives up back to back doubles, Hjellie comes on and allows a double but gets a big strikeout and makes a bare handed pick for out 2, then the UT batter grounds out to white to end the game with the tying run at 3rd, and winning run at 1st....... Whew !
Beggs does get the win to go 7-0 on the season, and tie the series at 1-1.

Good lord, that was harder than it needed to be. A win is a win, let's get the series tomorrow.

Went to today's game. Nice to see us get a win, but I was nervous.

Oh and Henderson is still an idiot and I'm proud of Hjelle for working out of the 9th. He faced a great hitter and struck him out after a big time battle. Then he overcame the catchers interference by Squires to get a guy hitting over .350 to ground out to first. Why does Squires play?

Agreed, can't believe he A) let Beggs go in for the 9th and B) let him face two batters when it was obvious that his best stuff was done for the day. Henderson can't get out of his own way sometimes.

When Tennessee scored their first two to tie the game they were hitting Beggs hard. Despite that Henderson had no one working in the pen. Fortunately we worked out of trouble and Beggs was able to go deep but that could have really burned us. Then we failed to realize Beggs was on fumes in the 9th and we kept him in. Had we just given up a single that would have been fine but it was the heart of a solid Tennessee lineup we were facing and that double really hurt.

Sometimes coaches tend to show too much loyalty to some players. Like Cal at the FF last year, playing the Harrisons late in the game, when Tyler Ulis should have been unning the show.
Beggs should have came out after the lead off double in the B of the 9th, thank goodness Hjellie got us the save !
