I was at the game today, my observations:
-Good crowd, considering it was colder than hell. Maybe 5 UGA fans, and the rest were UK. It's surprising that UGA fans don't support baseball like a lot of the other SEC schools do (LSU, MSU, Ark, UT, Ole Miss, etc).
-We make at least 2-3 mind boggling defensive mistakes every game. Harris' error in the second was the difference between getting out of the inning up 1-0 or being down 6-1.
-Our starter Williams did pretty well, considering the defensive debacle in the second inning. He struggled with pitch count but I thought he pulled it together pretty well the last two innings that he was in there.
-Harney was admirable in relief. I thought we left him in a winning too long, but he managed to escape with us holding a 10-8 lead.
-LOVE Guilfoil. Great command, and just shut them down when he got in there. I hate it when closers start walking people and he didn't.
-We got some clutch two out hitting on a couple of occasions to help our comeback (Liebert, Rubacaba, among others). Love this element of our team.
-Most of our comeback was due to UGA pitching meltdown, but credit to our players for plate discipline. I do not understand sending Ritter home for our third and final out in the decisive 5th or 6th inning (can't remember which). It was almost like our coaches were cold and wanted the inning to end.
Back to the ballpark today, let's win a series.
