Cats vs Dawgs (Saturday)

Dawgs lead 6-5 top of the 4th.

If anyone wants, they can continue this thread. I’ll be hit and miss for about an hour. Daughter has a play today!

We have tied it up and have runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Chased a pitcher. Now a big freshman coming in to pitch with a 2-2 count. What will happen?

Marsh is wild for Georgia, missing the plate and barely missing the batters.

Typical of this team, Liebert grounds slowly two second into the force there, scoring one more run. For some reason, Ritter tries to score from third on that and is out by a long way so we are out of the inning. The new pitcher Polk threw three balls, we took a strike, then swung at what looked low for the dribbler to 2nd.

Harney pitching his 2nd inning, gets a called 3rd strike. His pitches that are balls are off the plate quite a bit. Must be something about this cold weather pitching that makes control difficult. Anderson singles to right. McAllister singles up the middle on a mistake pitch up. Collins hits a double play ball to Harris makes a good turn to Ritter who can't get the ball out of his glove for the double play. Tate apparently fouls out to Plastiak. We didn't get to see it. Camera pans to short right field and the catch must have been close to the fence at first.

Rubalcaba lines to the pitcher, Polk for a good grab. Harris grounds out to 3rd that goes to review but I doubt the overturn it.

Shortstop gloves Fogel's ground ball almost on his butt and throws Fogel out for the 3rd out. 10-6 Cats after 6.

Ritter makes his own strong throw for the first out. Harney takes the next line up the middle off of his glove behind his back for a single. Estep dives to his left, knocks down a ground ball and manages to get the toss to get the force. All the sudden, everyone is making defensive plays. Mingione calls for the crazy Estep to short right field on two strikes. Luckily, Harney strikes out Rogers.

Don't know what happened in the bottom of the 7th but we didn't score (dog walking duty), Georgia has a runner on 2nd and one out as I came back in. Somehow the score is 10-8 now. hmmm. A bloops single by Tate puts runners on the corners. Still only one out. Conner grounds out to Harney for the 2nd out, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Wagner HBP to load the bases. This is smelling like one of our big number innings.

Somehow Harney keeps from hitting Spikes with two pitches far inside and gets him on a slow curve. Amazing.

I missed a single, foul out, double, and single that scored two. That's how they got 8.

Ritter grounds out, Plastiak flies out to left, Liebert pops up to third where the pitcher and 3rd base collide but Harbor holds on for the 3rd out in the bottom of the 8th.

Guilfoil pitching the 9th. Rogers flies out on the 2nd pitch. Acton grounds to Harris who doesn't come up to short hop it and Acton is safe. That's not an error but it is a misplay, especially to the #9 hitter. Anderson strikes out on a high fastball. McAllister strikes out on a three pitch at bat. Guilfoil was in control. Cats win 10-8.

Missed the game on the road traveling but glad to see I was wrong. Still have the same feelings, but good for the guys to come back today.

While it is hard to imagine, the Georgia series has lowered our pitching staff's team ERA by two tenths in two games. 5.39 to 5.19. 6 of Georgia's runs were unearned. We've now given up 23 unearned runs. We've been given 26 unearned runs.

The good things in this game were Estep looked like he may have looked up from his slump. The team didn't give up when they gave up 6 unearned runs in the 2nd. Harney looked good in long relief and Guilfoil had another good outing.

I actually thought Harney would pitch tomorrow. I wonder if it will be a Johnny All staff tomorrow.
