UK going for the sweep today in Athens @ 1:00pm. Cats have outscored UGA 23-0 in the 1st two games, but don't look for anything like that today with UGA throwing their Freshmna ace against us.
As has been discussed on other threads, the Cats could move into the #8 seed in the SEC tourney, if things go a certain way today. Georgia could actually make the SEC post season even with a loss today, if Auburn loses again to LSU.

Gametracker shows that Fr. righty Zack Brown getting the start today. He started Tues. at MSU, and pitched pretty well. Still somewhat surprising that Dwyer or Shepherd not getting the start.

UGA gets to Brown early, putting up 3 runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead.

Dawgs add another run in the second to extend their lead to 4-0. Not looking good early.

Very strange decision by Henderson to go with Brown. Still, our bats just need to wake up and a four run deficit won't be a issue.

Well, UGA hits a 2-run bomb to left, so it's now a 6 run deficit.

Evidently need more effective pitching, thought Henderson was the pitching guru!??Still need to tweak something!

7-3 now, but Georgia is threatening with the bases loaded an one out in the bottom of the 5th. Combs on the mound now. Apparently UK cannot find a pitcher that will throw strikes today. Combs has already walked two.

As I type this UGA hit a single so it is now 9-3.

Good grief ! Is Hendo letting his buddy Strickland get every chance to get into the SEC tournament ? Sure looks like it, should have started a veteran ie. Shepherd or Dwyer. Put young Zack Brown in a tough spot on the road.
Of course we aren't hitting much today either, maybe we are settling for the #9 seed.

Pitching has been very bad today. Just no way to sugarcoat it. UGA, which has been really cold at the plate lately , and they hit Brown all over the yard. Dwyer struggled to throw strikes, and Combs has struggled as well. Perhaps Henderson is saving Shepherd to start in the SEC Tournament early game(s)? In any event, it sure looks like if UK is to make any sort of a run in the postseason, UK's bats will have to get white hot and they'll have to put up runs in bunches consistently (not just an explosion one night followed by 0-2 runs the next night). They just don't have the arms this year.

If you are going to just go thru the motions, let people like Heady, Carson, Arnold, and Harrison get some playing time. No sense taking a chance of injury to Reed, Thomas, Cousino etc.

OT a distraction

Someone from Illinois-Chicago has hacked into Boyd's World. It has Jacob McNamara of Illinois-Chicago leading the nation in games played with 36641. Two other Illinois-Chicago are 2nd and 3rd. A lot of the other stats are also fudged for Illinois-Chicago.

What a comeback ! Cats have the tying run at 2nd, but cannot get him in. Final UGA 11 UK 10, Cats showed a lot of fight coming back, maybe this will carry over into the post season. Final regular season 32-22 overall and 14-16 in the SEC.
UT wins today to clinch #11 seed, while Georgia is the #12 seed. Auburn and Mizzou outside looking in.

Re: OT a distraction

Cats battled back at the plate and fall just short, 11-10. They put up 6 in the 8th, including a solo bomb from Reed and a grand slam from Reida. Down 2 entering the bottom of the 9th, they scored a run and had a runner on second with one out, but Arnold struck out looking and Reida, working an 11 pitch at bat and apparently narrowly missing a double down the LF line that was just foul, flied out to CF to end the game. Good comeback, just tough to come out on the losing end when you plate 10 runs in an SEC game.

Pitching or the lack thereof, don't get it,especially when ex UK pitchers seem to blossom in MLB !!
