It is a battle of titans. Evansville's fielding versus our base running.
lol they ended up calling that a double. That is a horrible scoring decision.

I think Ming should just have every player bunt every at bat the rest of the year. Let’s see how that works.
The score should be 10-3. MINIMUMI think we’ve swung the bat a bit better tonight but this offense isn’t good enough to give away outs with this terrible base running
Might have a new record for batting average with the bases loaded.
You guys may fuss about bunting but 3 K’s with the bases loaded is pathetic. This team has always been bad at clutch hitting with NM as manager. At least when you bunt you make contact. 🤷♂️Let's not give him any ideas.

Seemed like there was a lot of barking going on between the teams today also. After the Sunday game the was a dustup on the field between players and even coaches. I like the competitive attitude and confidence bordering on cockiness, but not sure how i feel about it happening this much this early.
At Elon it was Chavez that started it after he closed out the game on Sunday. But, yeah seems like Gilliam has some daawg in him. I like his style though. And keep playing like that at 1B and you can bark at people as much as you want!!Gilliam seems to have a bit of a nastiness about him that I think might be a cause of that.
I admittedly know very little about baseball but I know when I coached little league not to make the decisions this coaching staff makes.I went for 2 innings, long enough to buy a $9 Bud Light, that was the highlight for me. 🤣
Beer sales were brisk, but a lot were guys like me just buying one ceremonial brew.
This team will not be very good, unless I know very little about baseball (which I suppose is arguable)
This is a good take. I was at the game last night and came here to ask WTF is going on with the baserunning and bunting, but looks like everyone has that covered. The aggressiveness (putting it mildly) on the basepaths really stood out in the fall scrimmages and in the intrasquads so far this spring. I hope Mingione is using the early spring to figure some things out, but if we keep running into outs like this and doing things like bunting with the bases loaded, we're in for a long season.I just got back to Cincy from the game. (I didn't arrive until the bottom of the 1st)
Crowd and atmosphere were good for February. I thought the weather was the best I've been to for a home opener since the Cliff.
The pitching is really good. I thought we had the 2nd best staff in the SEC last year and this year it should be top 5 again. The defense is good, too. Stanke, Gilliam, and Waldschmidt all had some really good plays.
The offense has been different. I am in wait and see mode. The bunting and aggressive baserunning has cost us several outs over the first 4 games, but it has also scored most of our runs. I feel like it's too aggressive and maybe that's just while everyone is figuring out their limits (coaches included). This is exactly how we played against TN, Auburn, and in Hoover (and it really worked). So maybe there will be a common ground in there between the over aggressive outs and creating pressure.
Still, I hate to end up losing a game or two we shouldn't right here to an inferior team bc we are getting thrown out on the bases.
