Cats last night with 3 Rs on the court

Thought this was interesting, especially with Rob’s turnover issues last night. I understand that Reeves was in foul trouble.
Of course, if we started our best players, Reeves would have had an opportunity to play with Reed and Rob for additional minutes. Instead, because we don't, we risk Cal fouling out our lowest foul rate player with 2 fouls in the first and losing time for the Big 3 to play together.

By starting Reed, Rob, and Reeves, they could've played together for an additional 6-8 minutes. Seems like a big deal to me.

The 2 foul rule should not be set in stone, game situations need to be considered. Also third foul in the second half, when you're in a one and done tournament you can't be inflexible.

We didn't ever try this lineup that has been destroying teams

Reed
Dilly
Reeves
Edwards (or Theiro)
Ivisic

Why we didn't space the floor and attack with them....and on defense....you have more agility to guard those heavy ball screens.

Why Cal runs out DJ, Reeves, Edwards, Thiero and Ugo to start both halfs is just stupid crap all year long.
It's infuriating. This is coaching MALpractice.

My only clear memory of DaJuan in college was him missing free throws at the end of some important game.

Of course Cal has made his bones on the forcing Dajuan to go pro story, so Cal is all in on this working. Whatever working means to Cal. I’m not sure anymore.

Edit to add that I wonder how much of this ties back to WWW. That’s the Milt Wagner connect going back 40+ years.
Yes. And WWW. That's how he got Dejuan in the first place is thru WWW. WWW is Dejuans godfather. So that makes Cal even a step more into knowing that he has to stick with DJ even if he didn't truly want to in his heart. That's kind of the way I feel about it anyways.

Bobby Knight used to say if you cannot win without a player you must keep him in regardless of fouls . I saw him play Isiah Thomas with two fouls in first half for eight minutes . both the announcers and I thought he didnt realize Thomas had two fouls . what I said above was his explanation . Reeves did not foul out so we left time he could have played on the court unused .

Did it infuriate anyone else that he yanked Reed like a hot potato for making that bad pass in half 2 ? Yes it was an incredibly weak effort , he didn’t snap it over to ?? Whoever the team mate was .. but the guy plays great for the majority of the game , shoots lights out , makes steals , he’s a guy — at this point you should trust 110% , and Cal treats him like a scrub with that yank - while we were desperate for a comeback spark . Pissed me off badly

Didn't make me mad, he put him back lin like 60 seconds later and Reed nailed two threes. He pulled him, talked to him, settled him, and put him back.

JMHO, I don’t think Reed needs settled - ever . Lots of stuff , both bad n good can happen in 60 seconds of hoops

I find this especially frustrating bc it suggests Cal knows they’re his best/most dangerous group, and chooses not to play them together more despite that. I suspect any explanation he would give for this decision would be incoherent.

This in response to the Sean Vinsel tweet about the three Rs playing the last 4 mins together despite not playing together a lot before then.
