Cason Wallace has been a name familiar to Kentucky fans for many months. Cats Illustrated first spoke with the five-star guard out of Texas last October regarding his relationship with the coaching staff.

At that time he was speaking with regularly with fellow Lone Star native and Wildcat assistant coach, Jai Lucas. Wallace has been in contact with the Kentucky staff ever since then.

The interest from John Calipari picked up a notch this month at Peach Jam. Coach Cal and his staff were able to finally watch him live on several occasions and were sold enough to finally issue a scholarship offer.

Shortly after Pro Skills final game they announced via their Twitter site that Wallace has indeed received an invite from the University of Kentucky.

In the first week of pool play which consisted of seven games, Wallace not only averaged 15.6 points, but he did it efficiently with a 51.2% shooting average which included 37% from three-point territory. He also converted on 83.3% of his foul shots. Wallace also posted averages of 7.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

Wallace continued the outstanding play this past week in Session II and the elimination round.. Wallace averaged 13.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.8 blocked shots, and 1 steal per game. He shot 44.0% overall and 33.3% from three-point territory.

Wallace was a crucial element in helping Pro Skills achieve a perfect 12-0 record going into Saturday morning's Elite Eight matchup where their season ended thanks to a loss to Team Final.

Shortly afterwards, Pro Skills announced via their Twitter site that Wallace has indeed received a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.

Wallace is known as one of the elite defenders and competitors in the country. That fact is not only not lost on Wallace it is something he takes pride in. His quote to Orangebloods back in the spring stands as living proof.

“Defense is a will to want-to. So, if you want to do it, you do it. And I want to do it. That’s what you see,” Wallace said.

That part of his game was no mystery. What Peach Jam provided was the stage for him to unveil his offensive tools. That combination daily makes him not only one of the top guards, but one of the top players in the 2022 class.

Rivals National Analyst, Jamie Shaw, saw Wallace each step of the way in Augusta, and paints the picture of the type of player Big Blue Nation was love to get their hands on.

"Efficiency is the name of his game. He plays with a great pace and under control at all times. At a lengthy 6-foot-4, he is a very active team defender. The ball does not stick in his hands, he makes shots with range, and he finishes high above the rim in transition. Wallace is a winning player who makes winning plays."

Kentucky joins Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Creighton, DePaul, Illinois, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech has programs that have offered.

Wallace was adamant recently in telling Shaw that he is wide open in his recruitment. According to Shaw, Wallace did share that the schools that have made the "biggest impact" on him so far are Tennessee, Texas, and Kansas.

That conversation took place roughy three weeks before the Kentucky offer came about. Now John Calipari will look to secure an official visit.

Make no mistake about it, the Kentucky offer now changes things and will give Wallace something to think about.
