Carlos Becker

Would be a tremendous pick-up. Has offers from Kentucky, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Louisville, among many more.

Has an offer list like a 5.9 guy but is rated a 5.5. I'd say he is much better than his ranking. He's not going to get an offer from UK unless he can play. Not to mention ND, Ohio St, Florida, Florida St, Wisconsin, Mich St, UT, Ole Miss etc etc etc.

This is not a Joker 5.5. He is not deciding between us and Toledo and Akron...This guy is legit.

Never miss an opportunity to take a shot at Joe Phillips....
Just making a point because uninformed fans will see the 5.5 and think he can't play. I don't care what he's ranked because I trust guys like Nick Saban and Urban Meyer more than some "scout" from Rivals or 247.

True. Uninformed fans actually follow those numbers and think they are more important than the offer sheet. That has nothing to do with Joker, but it is the truth.

That's about as good of an offer sheet as anybody has.

I'm hyped over the thought of landing this kid. Does anybody know just how much he likes NC State? They are rumored to be the front runner and us right behind them.

If he committed to UK it would easily make this the best CB class ever for UK. They have the 4* talents already. Adding a fourth would be incredible.

I would love to get Becker but I gotta wonder about the timing of this with Hendrix leaving the program and Gilliam being a close friend to Hendrix. One might think that Gilliam might be waivering on his commitment. Either way I would welcome Becker with open arms Gilliam or no Gilliam

gilliam has been one of the leaders in this class. hendrix left because he fell behind in the depth chart. no hate by either party. i would guess we are recruiting him as more of nickle or safety than a corner because while his measuables are impressive, i dont see the cover skills that will be needed at this level but he does come up and tackle very well. we have been recruiting becker since at least feb and if you put 15 pounds on him then your looking at a guy that can help in the run game and cover in space for a whole lot of space.

i still dont see becker to UK with our last scholly but im assuming that jrow must be saying it cause i keep hearing people allude to the likelihood of it. i think we take the best de/olb'er available and save whatever spots we have for next year. we are looking at a very small class next year and i'd rather balance out the classes than leave ourselves with only 17 player class.

We will be taking a full 25 now after the losses from this past class. So we will sign 3 more not counting if we lose any from the current verbals.

We only took 23 in this last class including the transfers and now after our last two defections we are down to 80 scholly players. This is why so many coaches over sign because there is attrition every year at every school. We will sign close to 25 next year because we will lose a handful of guys next year too because of grades, trouble, depth chart, etc. Book it.

But we only have 16 scholarship seniors. So if we take a full class this year then you assure that we have a really small class next year. Or you can save a couple rides for next year and balance out the classes so that we have continuity over the next 5 years. I don't think any of the losses shocked our staff except Krok and livingston.

So if we lose 18 seniors this year and bring in 22 or 23 and 16 Sr next year and bring in 21 then that accounts for attrition. If we bring in 25 then we get into that utee spot of running kids off and I hope we don't do that. Stoops had said he wants to develop kids so I don't see him running freshman tryouts and cutting the ones who are behind.

NC State getting plenty of CB picks for him on the other site.

What? Haven't you been reading Orange and White's explanations of what is going on at TU?
