Cards at Cats

We will more than likely lose all starters but Estep and Church. I assume all eligible underclassmen starters will go pro or try to. That leaves the cupboard bare regardless. If we get wiped out on the back half of the schedule, if we keep Mingione, it tells me UK is not really “all in” on the baseball program. That’s just my opinion.

Not entirely sure who we will lose. Church is not eligible (obviously), but I am not sure about Estep and Ritter. Both of them are sophomores, so they might not be eligible, as they have to at least be 21 (IIRC). I believe Rhodes is old enough. Someone here answered this at one point, but I drink and forget things. We also have the fact that these guys can transfer with no penalty. Regardless, this is not a really well balanced roster and we could lose a whole lot, especially in the field. On the mound we might not lose as much as we could get Stupp, Lee, Hagenow, Strickland, Logue, Hudepohl and a host of others back… but we might or will lose some big pieces like Marsh, Daniels, Kammin, Harney, Jones. The middle between the freshmen and the eligible guys is kind of barren.

Anyone care to speculate on whether UK keeps Mingione? The way they are playing right now I’m afraid we might get swept by TN, Vandy and FL.

Pure speculation here but I think Minge isnt going anywhere. Theres no real incentive for Mitch to get rid of him right now. I could be completely wrong though.

I think you are right on the money. If UK was truly all in on baseball they would make a change. The program is not improving in my opinion and more likely regressing.

This is my guess if we keep or change coaches.....it starts with this weekend,
Get swept by Alabama.....gone.
Go 1-2 against Alabama.....probably gone, depends on how ugly it gets with the rest of the season.
Go 2-1 against Alabama......probably back, depends on how ugly it could get the rest of the season.
Go 3-0 and he is back minus a complete collapse the rest of the season. This means not winning more than 2 games and having multiple blowouts which makes it look like he lost the team (and I think we are getting close to him losing the team right now. That last Georgia game had a very funny vibe to it).

I think this is how it could go. But, I think with the way the season started, there was a lot of fools gold going around. If UK wants any chance of making the tourney, they absolutely have to win the series against Bama. Missing the tournament again could, and if we’re being honest, should absolutely be the final nail in the coffin.

Take a look at what this head coach does. Putting players that have no business being in certain positions. Have you seen a consistent lineup other than the first few weeks? Obviously disregards the stats.
He is all over the place. He has no baseball feel.

Extension? If I was a recruit, I wouldn’t set foot on a campus which employs a head coach that makes the moves he does. Most recruits look at what positions you have coming in, size up their competition, well, it’s obvious this coach doesn’t care what position you are. You have no arm...go play outfield. Slower than molasses...go play outfield. Never played 2nd before...go field that position. Make errors...be a regular starter. Never seen SEC pitching...be the DH. Give up 5 runs...pitch another inning. Geez. You could overlook it if this was on occasion, but this is every.single.game.

I just want to say, I hate the fact that I agree with everything you’ve said here.
