Honestly they'd be better served letting Ralph Willard take over if Pitino is indeed done this year. Let him coach for 2 or 3 years and let the whore scandal settle down, get the probation over, etc.
Then go after one of the Miller Brothers (Archie or Sean).

Nobody in there right mind is going there knowing what's coming. I wouldn't be surprised if some transfer out.
That game could get completely out of control. We should be in similar shape to what we are every year. Louisville is fresh out of hookers. The recruits they might think they are getting are very likely to bail due to potential NCAA penalties. Their one and dones are out of eligibility. Their coach could be looking for work. Pitino flipping off the fans didn't make them any friends.

I'll believe we "destroy" them or "blow them out" when I see it. I heard the same thing THIS off-season and we won by 2. We will win ( a given with Cal vs. Pitino), but I expect a single digit win. Those are even funnier as UL fans actually think they had a shot to win the game.

Very unlikely this will happen. That game is very valuable to the state. If one or both schools tried to terminate the series, the state legislature would likely step in. I seem to recall threats of this in the early 80's around the time the series became regular again.
That said, the game serves little purpose now. Maybe we get a little rpi bump. That could end next year as it seems to me UL is on a path to the toilet.

ul will have a few transfers after the season. they always do. they will start next season unranked. play a laughable easy schedule. win a bunch of games, losing 1 or 2 at the most to the only decent teams on the schedule, get all hyped for the game. talk of lousiville player > uk player.

Yeah, the occasional loss is painful, from what I can remember, but the numerous victories are therapeutic and good for the soul.
