Can Coaches Make Accurate QB Choice Without Live Game Action?

Neither of our QB's have taken a snap in 'live' action in a Division I college football game. My question is, 'can the coaches really make the decision on who is best simply from practice?' Football is a little different than other sports. While coaches try to simulate live action in practice, it is not quite the same when you are wearing a red jersey and no one is going to hit you as it is when they are coming after you for real. Sort of like the old Western gunfighters. One guy may be faster and more accurate when shooting at a target, but when face to face with someone shooting back at him, it may be a different story. I hear these stats about the QB's accuracy in practice, and frankly, that just doesn't mean much to me. I sort of hope that we do give both these guys a legit opportunity in game action before we settle on who is the starter. What say you?
