Hahahha tubby flashbacks!!! We were always gonna press more next season... Until next season came.
If we were ever going to press, it was last year. Maybe he's thinking that because of our bigs situation? Either way, I'll believe that one when I see it. He's pretty much avoided it like the plague since coming here (with decent reasoning).
Maybe because the bigs are smaller, and athletic, like the bigs he would put on the top of the press last season. All of them can apply pressure and run the floor very well now. I think he'll run the team like he did at Memphis, which is great, we have more weapons than that Memphis team.
Our team was not built to press last year.

Agreed, but if players first were not an issue, we could have been a phenomenal pressin team. However, it would have to include 1. Andrew and Aaron not playing together, but rather subbing in and out for each other 2. More Ulis 3. Booker at SF pretty much all the time 4. Poy at PF with Lee spelling him 5. Lyles would play less because he has to run more and 6. 70/30 minutes split for WCS/KAT.
Now it's dumb to reduce the minutes of KAT, but he could be left to guard the basket. Lyles would be a little bit of an odd fit. WCS would be all over. Dakari basically wouldn't play at all. Also there's simply no way he'd ever marginalize the twins like that. It'd go against everything he's stated.
But in an alternate reality, we could have done it.
Yeah, that other poster just said not play Lyles and Towns a lot...the teams two most talented players IMO. Glad he is not the coach.

First, I AGREED with the previous poster that pressing was not the best option for that team, both because of the talent and Cals philosophy.
Then, I theorhetically outlined the the best way to make it a pressing team. THEORHETICALLY. I was not saying he should have cut KATs minutes, I was saying IF we wanted to press THEN he'd lose a minutes to WCS because he is better suited to press. I NEVER SAID WE SHOULD HAVE PRESSED.
Then, I IMMEDIATELY said cutting KAT's minutes would be "dumb." I said that because I AGREED that we should not have been a pressing team. It was a theoretical situation that in my own words was "dumb." I only said it because it's summer and wtf else is there to blab about?
I AGREED WE SHOULD NOT PRESS BECAUSE OUR TALENT DID NOT DICTATE IT. THEN I WENT OVER A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION WHICH PRETTY MUCH PROVED WE'D BE OK, BUT NOT USING ALL THE TALENT WE HAD AVAILABLE TO US.
