Calipari is officially bat s#^t crazy.

If you don't like it don't read it, Marvin Lewis was a horrible coach. Sixteen years of losing and Calipari thinks he should be a head coach in the NFL.
What does that have to do with ice cream?
Not advocating for Lewis to be hired and Bengals never won in the playoffs but the 12 seasons before Lewis arrived in Cincinnati and the two seasons since, the Bengals managed a winning record precisely never. Sandwiched in between that 0-for-14, which included no playoff appearances, Lewis compiled seven winning seasons and made the playoffs in each of those years with 4 division championships. Bengals problems have always began with Mike Brown.

Maybe they are friends, idk why this even makes anyone upset at all.
I would not call him batsh$t crazy....Cal is just giving his opinion on a NFL coach but on a personal note....

- Why Cal offers a take on NFL that he knows nothing about is a start
- Lewis wasn't a successful NFL coach in over a decade at Bengals

Cal looks alot like good ole boy network Dick Vitale in rummaging for old has beens to keep their jobs when they aren't good with results on the field.

Do you know the history of the Bengals franchise? If you did you'd call Marvin's tenure successful...

Marvin 131-122

Bengals 370-458

He didn't win playoff games but he did turn around the franchise. Would be a reasonable hire by Jax.

He was not horrible but 12 years and not a single playoff win and he inherited the team after they fleeced the Raiders for a draft picks for Carson Palmer and had a young base to work with....and it never materialized. I would not call it a bust but I wouldn't call it successful

Well agree to disagree. I've followed the Bengals for 30+ years and he is the only guy who brought any joy to this city outside of Sam Wyche.

Marvin was a good coach. He had to deal with Mike Brown in his prime and a lot of things have changed over the past few years with others taking more control in FO.

Jax hiring a guy like Marvin to stabilize the franchise isn't a terrible idea...he did that in Cinci for sure.

Come on man we already have a ton of post on Cal and the team. Guess you had to get your Friday started hating on someone. Post your hate in one of the 100 other threads that are already posted. Does it make you feel good to get your Friday started by hating on someone. Ease up long season to go.

Uhh...Lewis had a 131-122 record at Cincy, that's 2x better than the winning % of the 3 coaches that followed him...and this is doing it under the absolute worst front-offices in the league..

Didn’t the Pittsburgh Steelers ruin Carson Palmer’s leg?

Maybe tomorrow Calipari will tweet that Vanilla is better than Chocolate and we can have a huge thread about that too.
Vanilla being better than chocolate is a matter of debate… Marvin Lewis being a failed under-performing HC is NOT a matter of debate.

Your rebuttal is absolute foolishness. Analyze before you post…maybe?

Marvin had a winning record in Cincinnati.

If you know the history of the franchise the above sentence is staggering.
Yeah anyone that knows football should know that the Bengals have been a cheap organization.

Under Lewis the future looked bright until Carson tore his ACL in the playoffs.

I don’t get why Cal comments on this would bother anyone . There is a lot to complain about Cal this isn’t one of them lol

Anytime I hear someone talk about their teams "terrible" head coaches I just laugh thinking about who we had to deal with...

Do they have the same agent?

It does seem odd that Cal has a fan base that is as unhappy as they have ever been at the job he is currently doing, yet he feels the need to promote another coach that left his last team on similar terms.

It worked pretty good. When Carson got injured in that playoff game against Pittsburgh, they could have easily went to the super bowl that year.

I’m a lifelong Bengals fan. Loved Marvin at first, soured in him at the end. 16 years is a long tenure for the NFL. He’s good at talent evaluation and building a solid roster in a small market hamstrung by poor ownership.

He excelled at beating bad to mediocre teams at 1 pm, always struggled with good teams and primetime games, he was Pittsburgh’s bitch and struggled in the postseason (0-7)

That said, a team that’s had double digit losses in 10 of 11 seasons could do much worse than Marv.

He didn’t inherit anything he was there from 2003-2018. The Raiders trade was in 2011. Lewis was tasked with rebuilding the franchise after the Palmer era ended. The guy won a lot of games and went to the playoffs five years in a row with Andy Dalton under center. The lack of postseason success was what did him in, but that’s more on the franchise considering they last won a playoff game 30 years ago.

Don't see the dislike for Marvin Lewis. He kinda ran out of gas at the end with the Bengals but the guy put together some talented teams. Who knows what would have happened if Palmer didn't get Kimo'd that year.

He made me want to watch the Bengals. That a pretty big statement in itself.

Not a horrible recommendation by any stretch. Not to many big names out there.

Sorry I thought maybe the thread had something to do with UK not Marvin Lewis.

I had my fill of Marvin after 16 yrs. Always player issues on and off the field. So refreshing seeing the Bengals not on police blotters or leading the league in penalties.

I guess the problem I have with it is that it is indicative that he's not spending his every waking hour concentrating on how he's going to mold his team into a winner. He's got things to worry about other than the state of the Jaguars coach search and Marvin Lewis' employment.

You've posted 13000 times on this board about football and basketball. What are your qualifications for expressing an opinion on sports 13000 times that Cal requires for one?
