Calipari doesn't think Tyler Ulis is completely healthy going into Louisville game

Sorry to hear that....hope the other guys step up and lead. Poythress and Lee need to have big games. Just an opinion, by the way...

Works for me. And wouldn't hurt my feelings if Skal pops up and has a nice game.[winking]

Well I guess it won't heal properly at all this season then. Not a long enough break between games. He's going to have to tough it out.

I think we need to go to a standard 2 guard set. I think we got out-rebounded and blocked to Helen Gone by OSU because we were too short. Ulis was often 5-6" shorter than the guy he guarded.

He was not shooting well before the injury.

Before the injury, he was 22 of 55. In the games after the injury, he was 12 of 45. That is still a fall off in percentage from 40% to 27%.

I would also add that his shooting percentage, before the injury, was greatly affected by one bad game in which he was 1 of 8. If we exclude a single bad game, he would be 21 of 47. That would bump him up to 45%.

I guess my point is that the injury has apparently truly hurt his scoring ability. Let's hope he gets back to where he was and maybe even better!

If someone inside would do anything, those contested 3s become open 3s from teams doubling down. Until someone shows they can score with their back to the basket (cough skal), his injury may show up the rest of the yr.

Ulis has for certain been hurt. That drop off happening exactly since the elbow injury isn't random.

He will have another full week off after the Louisville game. He'll be fine. Part of me thinks this will end up being the most recent addition of the WCS foot injury where our fans discuss the injury all season long.

Ulis' big problem this season is he is not knocking down the open threes. He wasn't doing it before South Florida and hasn't done it since South Florida. His woeful three point percentage has been been just around 25% both before and after the injury. The team has to have Murray and Ulis hitting close to 40% from three to be super successful. There is no reason they shouldn't start doing it as teams are packing the zone in super tight.

For Ulis' NBA sake he has to start hitting outside shots. No way will the NBA take a 5'9" guard that can't make shots and is not super athletic.

We certainly need a big game out of Tyler Ulis today. GO CATS!

Don't know if it's the elbow but Tyler is no where near where everyone thought he would be. Most were saying he would be on the level of Trimble, Dunn, Paige, etc.... He is significantly behind those (and other) guys right now.

He is the key to this whole thing, even more so than Skal. Get Tyler playing and shooting like he should/can and I think UK is a much better team.

We always go into this game with injuries and the tards are always healthy it seems. We still always win and we are gonna kill em today!!!!

I didn't read anything at all in Cal's comments to make me think Ulis will be hampered in any way.
I don't think there is anything wrong with Ulis other than trying to do too much. Calipari is just giving him some cover because he played poorly against Ohio State. A sophomore and 3 freshmen start for this team. They are still learning how to play as a team, and they don't have a consistent low post scorer. That's the problem.

Can he really in league play and playing close to 40 minutes a game?
What are you talking about league play? From December 10 through January 4 we play 4 games. I was saying he has had time to heal, so it looks like this injury isn't going to get better any time soon considering it didn't during one of the longest stretch between 4 games that I can ever remember during a season.

I would let Pitino touch it today and maybe his miraculous healing power will overcome Ulis.
