Caleb Wilson

We'll see how he performs in college but if he came here he'd maybe be the best day 1 pro prospect we've had since....De'Aaron Fox? Sounds like hyperbole but when I sit and think about it, it's been quite a drought of top end talent.
Reed Sheppard hard to top as a recent day 1 prospect, although I acknowledge he wasn’t on NBA radar and wasn’t highly valued by the media. Time proved he was absolutely that dude and then some. So excited for the possibility of Wilson though.

I think you are using "day 1" in the context of day 1 of the NBA draft? Is this correct?

I believe the other poster is using day 1 in the context of day 1 on UK's campus. Reed was not a high end NBA prospect when he stepped foot on UK's campus.

This kid would be perfect in Pope's system. Would love it if he would just pull the trigger and commit to UK.
Yes he would, when he gets more muscle on his frame he will be tough. He’s gonna be an NBA player, but at worst I think he’s a college star. I think he’s coming for sure I just wish he would announce a date already! He at least finally narrowed his final list.

Probably since Dillingham coming into college. He was basically projected lottery coming in. Justin Edwards probably ranked as highly as far as the league, let’s hope he’s more Julius Randle and less Dragon/Edwards.

No I was meaning “Day 1” in college production.

Hmm, well I don't personally see Reed as the best example, but I still don't think everybody is on the same page about what is even being said.
Yeah, and just to clarify my original point - I mean day 1 of walking on campus. Not to say he'll have the best freshman season but just that he's the most complete pro prospect coming in. The few that have had as high of recruiting rankings all had pretty big flaws (BJ Boston, Edwards, DJ, maybe a few more) and guys like Reed and Rob had hard ceilings.

I think Wilson is a high level 2 way player that could have a really productive freshman season and then go be a top 5 pick. Not many guys in the last ~8 years we've said that about coming into the season.

Well Fox did have Bam and Monk to help him. IQ (Sophomore year), PJ Washington, and Keldon Johnson all was pretty good and similar numbers as fox.
Keldon for some reason is never mentioned as good former UK players. 38% 3FG, 13.5 ppg / 6 rpg / 1.6 assist per game.

IQ sophomore year - 16.4 ppg / 4 rpg / 2 assist per game, 40% 3FG.

PJ freshman year - 11 ppg / 6 rpg /1.5 assist per game

PJ sophomore year - 15 ppg / 7.5 rpg / 2 assist per game / 1.2 blocks per game.

Fox stats - 16.7 ppg / 4 rpg / 4.6 assist per game / 1.5 steals. 24.6 3FG%

Weirdly enough this team is winning games they should, not losing ones they shouldn’t, and winning one they weren’t expected to. Hmm 🤔. Think things are ok. That said, obviously everyone wants that young man.

The difference between discussion and persuasion is the need to convince the other party your opinion is correct and not just an opinion.

I see a lot of Terrence Jones at that age, too.

Hopefully Pope and Fueger help him improve the 3pt shot of Wilson's because if defenders have to get up on him at the 3pt line to guard him, then he's an instant college star with that quick first step drive of his, its just that wont work as well if defenders can sag off of him .

This looks like Julius Randle’s HS tape.

Disagree. Some similarities in ball handling, though.

I'm looking at these 5 stars with a different lense these days. If you're not a bonafide star, what are you gonna bring to the table as a Freshman? To me, I'd rather have a seasoned veteran with proven stats. This kid seems to have a decent to solid handle. Half of those drives to the basket will be erased in college, unless you are skilled enough to make another move or two at the rim. Now, if he stays in the program for 2-4 years, and we see the fruits of his labor, growing from a Freshman into solid contributor, then cool.
