If Oweh continues to play well it's gonna be hard to keep him out of the draft. Chandler has to get much better by next season to make a difference and Noah and Perry likely aren't gonna be difference makers next season either. That leaves Garrison Johnson Lewis Moreno and possibly Wilson with the majority of minutes. Even with Wilson I think we're gonna need another big time SF like Ament or a couple from the portal plus another PF and another shooter.
It's the 2012 and 2015 model that Cal actually got right...or lucked into. Elite freshman with elite/high quality returning contributors.
Oweh is a great college player but he's not really an NBA guy. He's currently shooting 50% from 3 but that's not what he has shown in his career so I expect that to come back down to earth. I guess if he continued to hit at that percentage there would be a chance but I'd say it's much more likely he's at UK.
This one I would just going off surface level stuff. Haven't seen him play but 7 points on a not good Wofford team is different from Brea who shot a higher volume at a higher level. Also don't imagine we'd use another roster spot on a 6'2-and-under guy unless he's special. It's possible Wofford completely underutilized him and that's why he transferred, but I don't see it based on the profile. Just my 2 cents.
If all Kentucky is needing this guy for shooting then it’s a no brainer to contact once they can. They won’t need him to do anything more than offer shooting
Where is Chase Comier now? And 3.5 3pt shots a game and someone is saying thats good enough for here? 7ppg on 5 shots a game and 3.5 are 3's. nah man, he's gotta be a double digit scorer and prove he can hit those 3's against even the better teams like Brea did.
Oweh would have to play this way the entire year, and even then he's probably not getting drafted as a 6'5" tweener wing with decent but not great shooting and handles. He'd probably make a roster, but most likely as a free agent signee.
We need to change our mentality regarding good players at Kentucky. This isn't Calipari's Kentucky anymore. Pope won't be encouraging fringe draft picks to go pro the way Cal did.
Those were my thoughts watching that interview he did with jack pilgrim. I mean even doing a sit down 10 minute interview like that with a team specific reporter is kind of a hint. I'm paraphrasing but he mentioned wanting to see see how the the coaches, Pope specifically since he is at a new school, actually coach and perform. It seemed like he wanted a proof of concept for Kentucky this year, and this was right before the Champions Classic. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he was planning on not signing in the early period, but that was enough to get him in the boat a little sooner.
The first of who ? We are only talking about Wilson. Lewis is already committed if you are referring to him ? Also, as good as UK stands for Wilson, you wait for the #5 recruit to make his decision. There is not anyone left for 25 we have a shot at that is near as good as Wilson. Why would YOU take a player (if there was one), ahead of him ?
Good shooting is good shooting and Cormier is one of the best shooters in the nation and would fit perfectly in popes system
