Caleb love decommits from Michigan

Yes it is. My son was top 10 in his class of 600+, with only 2 B’s (rest A’s) taking lots of AP and Honors classes, and was waitlisted to their Engineering school. He’s done very good at NC St engineering school.
Damn, I never heard back and had a close situation to your son, but nothing wrong with NC state, and Kentucky where I went

No child left behind I suppose. My school had roughly 10 valedictorians and 10 salutatorians. School should be harder. I had a 4.0 and refused to do ap courses in high school. School and college was a joke overall and I don’t consider myself to be that intelligent.

I think I’m smart but it’s limited, I have areas im stupid in, but I agree the whole college admissions process and college as a whole is stupid. The classes I took didn’t prepare me for my job or the work/business environment at all. I literally learned everything that I do for my job now on YouTube

Still not possible. AP is the highest, and it’s only worth 1 extra point. So if took ALL AP classes the max is 5.0
Not the case, he attended a class 9A school that enabled those deemed gifted and talented, to start HS classes in junior high. By the time he was a freshman/sophomore he was already taking AP Calc, Physics, Stat, Chem, Bio etc., believe the highest possible was a 7.2, IIRC, that would include dual enrollment in college, he elected not to do that, probably the smartest thing he did, haha. Having the time to be a kid and hang out with your friends is just as important in many ways.

It’s ridiculous that y’all think Michigan or Duke would have the same standards for athletes. Come on now. Charles Matthews got in coming from Kentucky.
Yep at the end of the day the representatives at these schools can pull whatever strings they want and deny or accept someone's application for admissions. The idea that someone has to have a certain ACT or SAT score to get into certain universities is a little overblown. I don't believe the story that he wasn't accepted because his academic qualifications.

That’s why Americans are dead last almost in courses that count. Across all measures we suck, it’s all part of the plan to make us not a superpower and to bring us down from the inside and it’s working.

Joey Baker had no problem transferring to Michigan. I think it is a UNC/Love problem. They don’t care about academics for UNC athletes.

I heard he was accepted but only 60 credit hours. He’s close to 120 to graduate. I’d say no too. This is common for Michigan supposedly. So he did get in. The same thing happened with Shannon last year.

Yes, I know someone that had a 34 ACT and a 6.8GPA due to taking 24 AP/Honors courses and they weren’t accepted at Michigan. They also lettered in sports and were in and/or led five clubs, so yeah…

If they were really that smart they would’ve spent that time getting good at a video game, recorded themselves playing it on YouTube, and then made 5 million a year

Probably accepted but they would not accept too many of the college hours from unc.

This is what a UNC education will get you. Attending kindergarten classes at UNCheats doesn't qualify you as a legitimate college student.
While funny if you transfer to Michigan they only accept a max of 60 hours. If a diploma says UM on it they want you to have taken at least half of their credit hours. Love is almost done with school. I’d say if he would’ve graduated then he would be at UM as a grad transfer. This is why Shannon went to Illinois instead.

I had good grades and played two sports and was invovled and I never even heard back LOl. How do you get a 6.8 GPA, did they take all AP classes

I have no idea how they do GPA any more. Back when I was in high school, an A in an AP class was worth 5. So, an entire semester of AP classes would warrant a max 5.0 GPA. How in the world can someone get a 6.8 GPA?

At least he got a lot of credit hours for general and exempted from requirements for other classes at Florida.

The Cheats really do have academic issues when it come to it's athletes in basketball and football. To many things just pop up to be completely incidental.

That makes far more sense now, but they should obviously have a workaround for athletes. Caleb Love could take some UNC classes this summer and maybe get his degree early, but I guess he doesn't want to do that.

I wonder what they did with Chaundee Brown, who came in as a junior year transfer from Wake Forest and played in 20/21. Similarly, DeVante Jones transferred in as a junior in 21/22 from Coastal Carolina, while Jaelin Llewellyn transferred in from Princeton, again as a junior, without issue. They didn't have an issue with Nimari Burnett coming in from Alabama for this year either.

So why does this only affect the really good players that are rumored to be on the market weeks before this credit issue comes about.

If I was Love and had to give up 50-60 credits i wouldn’t sign either. He still could’ve. They didn’t say no. Not sure the situations with those others. So it’s not like they(UM) had the issue.

If Love has 110-120 credits, then he should take a couple classes and get his degree at UNC. Then go to UM as a grad transfer.

Agree. It might be too late for that though. Not sure how that works. I also thought maybe other things like guarantees that never happened…maybe the relationship soured..etc.

Technically, part of the process of entering the transfer portal involves surrendering/relinquishing in writing your scholarship. The school can chose to reinstate your scholarship if you later change your mind and want to return, but the school is under no obligation to do so. You enter the portal at your own peril. But Caleb Love's level of peril is fairly small - somebody is going to give him a scholarship for next season.

No, by working globally and impacting and deploying
👍 I'm old and I have my share of 'get off my lawn' in me. But does today's generation show any real interest in the incredible benefits and experiences that can be seized by joining the reserves while going to college or by doing a single, four-year hitch before starting college? The work ain't easy [and it shouldn't be] but it beats the heck out of being saddled with huge student loan debt when you walk up on stage to be handed that college degree.

No truer words, it’s an opportunity and chance of a lifetime!

I agree.... I served 4 years in the Air Force 64-68 and when I got out I served on the draft board until they did away with the draft. I said then that was a big mistake doing away with the draft and I still agree with that today. Don't want anyone have to go to war but it would sure makes you grow up fast and appreciate this country. JMO
