Cal shuts Jerry Tipton down

Here is the best way to take questions from a ham head like Tipton.

Tipton: "Skal Labissiere......blah, blah, blah......money......blah, blah, blah......eligibility......blah, blah blah...?"

Cal: Stares at Tipton for eight to ten seconds without blinking, then turns his head away from Tipton and asks, "Anyone have a question?"

At least, that's what I would do.

There is no reason for UK to pull Tipton's press credentials. Actually, the Hairy Leader should do that. Everyone knows Tipton is a hostile idiot. Calipari talks down to him, and this isn't the 1st time. Tipton is an embarrassment to the Hairy Leader, not to UK. The newspaper ought to cut its losses and appoint a new UK basketball beat writer. Obviously they aren't going to do that. But as we can see, Calipari can handle Tipton. So nothing to worry about.

I think there's always room for IMPARTIAL investigative reporters at local newspapers, as they can keep a program in check.( there's obviously none in Louisville).
Tipton however seems to be something completely different. He's nothing but a biased anti-Kentucky/Calipari hack who always has an axe to grind. He's partial,biased, and seemingly hateful towards the basketball program in particular. Totally unprofessional.

Why the Herald allowed Tipton to publish an article calling out a college kid on the basis of his father's financial misfortune is beyond me. It was the most mean-spirited article I've ever seen in sports journalism.

I feel the same way as you did. It was utterly disgusting, and there's no way he would cover my team if I had the authority to make such decisions. I felt sorry for Kelenna. Tipton is useless in my book.

reply: kelenna's dad was also dealing with having a heart transplant in 2003. even though he was convicted and given prison time i always thought the reporting by tipton at the time to be mean spirited and kicking a man when he's down.

I do agree though, that if we tried such a thing now, Espn would rush to his defense. No one buys that paper anymore, and no one is going to pay to read him on the net, I doubt his liver hold up another 5 years, so..
