I've been impressed with his coaching especially the last couple games. This is why you shouldn't ever be overly concerned about a Cal coached team. I knew he would figure this team out and it appears he has. We are so lucky to have him as coach.

Still got some kinks to work out but he always has these young guys melded into a very formidable unit by March.

I agree. The team definitely isn't perfect, but it appears he's found the best starting line up. It took a little while but he figured it out. That's why he's in the HOF. He's a terrific coach

Cal got the type of guards you need to win a tourney. Ulis can get his shot anytime. Briscoe too. Murray needs screens but is a high level streak shooter. We can stop the 3 pointer and block shots. We got what we need for March imo. Plus Skal could go wild anytime, ANYTIME. He is do!
Cal coached em up good last two games no doubt.

It's funny, I avoid the boards after a loss like the plague because I know the "sky is falling" crowd troll so hard then.

It's nice to come here and see people praising Cal for actually coaching now. When in fact he has been doing the same thing all season long, it just takes kids a while to process what they are hearing, apply it, learn how utilize it during live play, then trust it enough to work on it in order to make it 2nd nature during the games.

People seem to think they can just flip a switch... teaching kids takes time.

This team is growing...the lineup is set and the sky is the limit.

It has to be killing a few posters. I mean there are a couple that absolutely rail on Cal every chance they get. Not much to rail on right now. He has taken a 5'9 point guard, a reclassified 2 guard, another guard that shoots like 30% from the line and worse from the floor, a player with a surgically repaired knee that has sputtered for 3+ years, and a lowly 4* JR, that up until 2 weeks ago couldn't get on the court for more than 2-3 trips at a time, and has them playing the best basketball of the year.

IMO anyone that thinks this guy can't coach is either a hater, or, just doesn't understand basketball.

Post of the week!!!

Can't put this team's woes on Cal.

Imagine if Briscoe could just shoot average %'s from the line and the 3.

With his driving ability it would put a ton of pressure on the other team and we would rarely see a zone.

Imagine if Skal could reach half of his expected potential.

A decent low post presence frees up Lee and Alex to do what they do best and opens the floor.

These are not crazy what ifs, not sure there is a chance that either gets to where we need them.

But looking at this year's competition these two becoming "average" in particular areas would improve our chances greatly.

He has made some nice adjustments of late. I would not have liked our chances if you had told me before the season the Willis would beat Skal out of the starting lineup. We have probably just played our best 2 game .

2 freshmen, a sophomore, a junior, and a senior. Jeez, dude. Ulis is the best player on the team. He's a guy fans should know stuff about.

Last two games have definitely shown improvement. Defense is better and the rebounding. Willis is stretching the defense out with his shooting ability and it allowed Poythress to have room move down low and this also allowed the guards to be able to penetrate. Lee and Skal off the bench is the best rotation imo. Lee can give some energy minutes and Skal can protect the rim.
If they can continue to improve this rotation, UK can be a tough out tourney time.

They are playing with intensity on both side of the ball and they are moving the ball well on offense. It was a good game to watch. That have made strides for sure. Considering how poorly we have played at times I would say all is coaching his face off.
