Cal (Golden Bears) is not in LA

All you people crying that "northern cal isn't southern cal" need to chill...acting as if Berkeley California is some third world slum dump...

NorCal is just as pretty and appealing if not more so than SoCal...cleaner...not quite as much riff raff...a little safer...

San Fransisco bay area is probably one of the most pleasant and fun areas in the country...Golden Gate area is gorgeous...Napa a short trip north...Sac town about an hour and a half North East...San Jose an hour to the south...

University Ave takes you right to the bay...and the ocean is maybe a 45 minute drive from campus...

It may not be Malibu on the beach...but it isn't Lexington KY either...

you all are just going to have to get over the fact that all these recruits chose other places they felt better suited them and in particular the fact that California was a more attractive option to Brown...and that a couple kids decided they liked cuanzo martin more than john calipari...

Brown would go pro if he chose furman...so if he wants to have some fun on the west coast a for year or two...great...I don't blame him after growing up in Georgia...

Agree with micro-client comment. California is huge with Mountains and tricky winds. I used to marvel at driving North on 101 from San Jose to San Francisco in May and watch the temperature go from 90 degrees in San Jose to 50 in San Francisco, it's only 50 miles or so but like being on a different planet.

I keep seeing people on here saying Brown chose the beach and the babes over UK. A lot of people on this board have never been to California! North California is not the sunny beach California. It's pretty much windy and 64 degrees constantly, everyone wears layers, and it's incredibly hilly. The beaches there are more cliff/stone type beaches, and if you do find a sand beach, the water is really cold. It's a 5-6 hour drive to LA and it's scene.

Actually people here would like it. Once you get to the outskirts of the bay area, it's a lot of super redneck shanty towns and country type folk, but also with random wineries and occasionally, a grow operation.

I've been to California about 50 times over the past 5 years at least...you point out facts but regardless of these, CA >>>>>>>>> KY

I agree with that, except it'll probably just be 4-5 months. I mean hell, go to UCLA. Or Pepperdine. Or USC. Or something. Cuonzo Martin must just be a wizard.

I'd go to Cal or any So Cal school over any of the Universities in Kentucky. Sorry. And on the basketball side - Brown doesn't need the UK exposure, he'll be a lottery pick. Jason Kidd went to Cal so it's not a total basketball wasteland.

I wanted to go to Pepperdine for college but didn't realize how expensive and private it was, lol. I did get a chance to live in Solano Beach and work at Del Mar for a summer - so that almost made up for it. I love both North and South Cali. I visited Cal - Berkley and it's campus - my Aunt was a bio chemist there at one time.

Pepperdine has the most amazing views and location of any campus in the U.S. In the heart of Malibu overlooking the PCH and the Pacific.
