Cal handled that about as well as anyone can who gets ambushed. Interesting that he states that Camby wasn't the only athlete involved and that UMass(Calipari) got him to 'fess up to the NCAA and that Camby then makes restitution monetarily.
Problem is, and Cal knows this better than anybody, it doesn't matter what he says, those radio hosts will fall right in line with every non-UK fan, they will continue to call him a cheater and a liar regardless of the facts. It's just the way it is.
Kind of sounded like he says we aren't doing it right now, but he did it right back then? I know what he meant, but some will take that and use it against him.
Regardless of what Camby did dosent change the fact that UMASS was crap before Cal and he took a squad full of role players to the FF.
Yet when I first moved to MA and had a UK plate on my car, I would get yelled at for it. F Cal etc. Idiots everywhere

Funny how people hear things differently, I didn't get that feeling at all.

That year UMass was a team you didn't want to play. They flat out had us figured out for the most part.
I remember thinking how is Cal getting his team to play 'up' to our talent level.
At that time, no one could have seen Cal coming to Lexington. That is a great piece of history in UK basketball and without Cal, UMass may not have a basketball program today. Cal earned that banner as much as any UK coach earned a banner that hangs above Rupp.
Memphis should be ashamed of themselves and will continue to wallow in self pity.

It's pretty funny to hear all the vitriol directed against Cal- and yet there's Marcus Camby already in the rafters, sittin' pretty. Does anyone in Boston hold Camby accountable too, or is it all on Cal?

Mmm lobster.
Just had a big seafood dinner the other night.
Started with oysters and scallops wrapped in bacon.
Then crabcakes, 2lb Maine lobsters, linguine with clams.....
Love having easy access to fresh seafood. Go buy it right off the boat if you want.
Being a bully on the radio especially when it was 2 guys was about them, not Cal. They were trying to impress how they are investigative reporters and not talking heads I supposed for their own egos and their local audience.
You get a high level guy like Cal who is good enough to come back to U. Mass to be honored and these guys are trying to rain on that parade? Now, there is the point that Camby wasn't on the up and up, there is no getting around that. But, I never was aware he paid the program back. Cal shared that and what was telling was the radio guys ignoring it. Instead, they led with how everyone cheats to be successful which basically was saying Cal cheated. Proof? None. Plus, it rubs us Kentucky fans wrong when the same scenario occurred with now 2 Duke players and Saint K. never gets any of this. Cal handled it well and got rid of them.

Radio guys can be schmucks. When I lived in Charlotte there was a popular duo on in the mornings, Gary Williams and Jim Celania. Both drunks, although Gary seemed like a nice guy. They get Tom Brady to call in, and even though they agreed they wouldn't touch his recent divorce from the girl who is on Blue Bloods, Celania plows right into that area early on. The interview had started off well but I guess Celania felt he had to earn street cred among listeners by dissing Brady on the air. I never liked Brady, but these guys made me actually like Brady more than them with their ambush.
