Cal and 3 pointers

Like now, Murray is obviously the hotter hand, and just now got a shot off? Why? Some of this crap is self inflicted.

Not on purpose, but he could've had a lot more looks.

Booker was an interesting player last year, early was very cold, and then got very hot, and cooled down again later. His lack of looks may have been because of a mild case of nerves being a freshman.

But seriously, Cal really tries to keep the players from being one dimensional. This is mostly directed towards Murray.

Ulis is a low volume shooter.
Briscoe is a driver by nature.

Murray can drive but he can also sling 25 3's a game. Cal wants to expand his game more, not unlike KAT and Skal.

Besides, I'm not sure how many favorites were upset in the tourney because they didnt take enough 3's...?

Hopefully Cal is more about winning games than he is developing players. I say do whatever it takes to win the game, not do whatever it takes to develop the player.

I think some of the issue people have isn't the effectiveness of Cals method here, it's the fact that you need big time shooters to spread the floor for what he likes to do best, and when cal doesn't have that, it shrinks his floor and he becomes mr. Predictable.especially late in the year when everything just gets tighter.

That's my opinion anyway.

Bingo

Cal is a combo of anti-3 and just uncreative in creating them.

I don't think he dislikes the shot, he'd just rather u drive the ball. Also, if one of the guards isn't collapsing the D & creating a 3 on the fly, then Cal isn't going to the drawing board to create a look. He simply doesn't show that level of acumen. Never has really.

Been saying it for years. Spot on post.

Yes, against a Wisconsin team that didn't defend the 3 well, and considering the shooters we had on that team and the fact we were shooting well, I think we should have put up more than 5 threes in that game.

JMHO
We had one guy who shot enough threes and had the percentage to call him a shooter and he was far from consistent. Ulis had a good percentage but he didn't take anything that wasn't WIDE open.

He likes to drive the ball and has never relied on big time shooters . He's not a drive and kick to the open shooter coach , his method is to drive to draw a foul or dump off to your big man .
