So Cal in his 1st season at Arkansas has won more NCAAT games than his last 4 years at UK.
Cal always has a talent advantage over every team not Duke... His first 5 years here were awesome, but I would rather have Pitino's UK style of basketball over his every day all day and every Sunday that ever was ...

Yeah Mitch messed up his contract but to gripe now and make all these other conclusions coming off as sour grapes for poor Cal reeks of horseshit.
Objectively UK is better off all around now and we should be happy he left the way we did.
Mitch isn't perfect but we could do a lot worse than him as AD.

I’m not anti pope I’m pro winning. We haven’t won in a long time. Already people are making excuses to protect pope. I remember the night he was announced as the hire and every single poster on this board melted down, the callers on Matt’s show he let them scream drop fbombs. You act like it’s an outlier to have skepticism. What’s changed other than the pep rally at rupp? Barney’s plea? I had to group think and drink your kool aid? I didn’t do it. I’m still skeptical until pope builds a credible resume. Barney threw the man out there. I mean Bcg was more qualified than pope.pope qualification is he played for uk.
Just remember though that night last April when Barney made the decision without consulting anyone. If you’re not a skeptic then you’re not a realist. I was thought this was a UK site yet there more about Cal and Ark on here than UK and Coach Pope.
In a way it is.....Cal came back to Lexington and hung a L on us. That was one of two games UK fans wanted to win for sure...pUKe being the other.
It's like your ex-girlfriend/wife showing up with a date at a party.....you want to have a date much prettier than her.

I complain alot about Mitch but this is mostly on cal. Ya he gave cal one of his patented insanely favorable contracts that only Mitch can give, but cal was the one who suddenly got lazy and disinterested in winning.

Cal won because he had DJ Wagner playing strong and well and was the best point guard of either team. And he had 2 or 3 players who played like dogs. I haven't watched much of St John but that was a shiz show. just a bunch of mugs running around without much cohesion missing layups. In a rough and tumble game with low shooting percentage, Ark had more draft able athletes who could dominate.
I think it has to be viewed as some kind of competition whether people want to admit it or not. Cal isn’t “trying” again to stick it to UK fans, he finally realized he’d embarrassed himself by getting lazy and fat and he’s putting effort into coaching again to save face. He’s done more coaching this year than he had in his last 6 years at UK combined.
As far as UK fans “not giving a crap what he does”, of course a lot of us do. You do realize he just won more NCAA tournament games in 3 days on the Hogs payroll than he did here in 4 years? That does, and should, piss a lot of UK fans off. The lazy pos stole 10 million a year those 4 years and didn’t give a crap about the university or the fans. UK fans are among the most faithful and supportive in the entire country and when someone does that to our beloved university we’re going to have feelings about his “next stop” results. I’ve never rooted for ANY team to lose every game as much as I have the Hogs this year, not even UL, IU, Kansas or Duke - ok not true on Duke - I passionately root for them to lose every game!

Wow, after 6 years of having No 1 recruiting years every year, Ark coach finally gets back to the sweet 16 wow. Go Cats and Coach Pope.
He's right. Cal left w class and grace. Our fanbase has been ugly to him. The whole country sees it, and it's not a great look.
