C Wilson

Too small of a sample size, he is 8 of 16. For his career he is just a 30% 3pt shooter (including the 8-16)
To be fair he’s shown to be a pretty good shooter from the stripe and has a good shooting stroke.

Brief scouting report from 10 minutes of research and highlights. He was a tall lanky wing at Brewster Academy with Matas Buzelis and Taylor Bowen(at FSU). Think he played for Expressions Elite in AAU with those same New England guys.

Has started every game at Davidson in his three year career. His highlights scream Andrew Carr. He is a smoother mover and slightly better athlete than Andrew. Pure looking shot but obviously hasn’t shot much.

Obviously competition is a concern. He’s cooking their conference now and here are his stats in the Battle 4 Atlantis this year(Providence, Arizona, and Gonzaga): over 15 PPG, about 7 RPG, and 3 APG. Struggled against Zona of the bunch.

It’s too early for me to be thinking portal as mentally it’s different for me than recruiting. But I’d have to imagine this kid is on Pope’s white board of targets.

Exactly, people on here hear one rando calling UNC and it’s over! Let him actually announce first. Edit: I know it’s looking like that is the case based on experts rolling in now but at least wait to drag the kid. I mean we all wanted him, he just made a bad choice if he indeed picks them.
Terrible choice. However, he doesn’t shoot the ball that well. Our 4 needs to shoot better than 29% from deep. That won’t get it done in Pope’s system. JMO. Still would like to have the kid, don’t get me wrong.

Word of advice for Caleb if he's reading this board.

I really do hope it's about the money because no one in college or the NBA cares if you score 20+ ppg. Anthony Davis scored the 5th most points on his own team and went #1 in the draft.

Come to UK and make a name for yourself on a contender and then go make millions in the NBA.

Yup I want him just to keep us our recruiting going of freshman stars when we need them.

There will be plenty of power conference players jumping into the portal, looking for opportunities. But your better fit might actually comes from a lower level competition.

P S. Also you could have big improvement from Garrison next year! I have seen steady improvement already this year. Allow this staff to develop and work , before allowing the past 5 years to influence our expectations on returning players!

If he’s reading this board, I don’t think he’s going to Kentucky. Let’s get real. I always hope to God the team and recruits have no idea this place exists.

Where’s the big that was at Indiana St? Avila? I think he transferred . His game was facilitating the offense from the top of the key and shooting outside. He wasn’t overly athletic but could do a lot of what Pope likes a big to do.

That's a dumb stereotype tbh. Luka, Jokic, Giannis, Wemby, the list goes on.
You’re cherry picking NBA all stars who never even played in college. Besides, I havnt watched an NBA game since Jordan played for the bulls. I’m taking about euro college kids. They are not my preference. The last few euro kids we’ve had have not impressed me. Amari is actually the best of the bunch. I’m glad to see him coming around

Wilson was important just to finally give Mark Pope that "elite recruiter" feather in his cap. Getting two in state kids does not make him an elite recruiter. Wilson would have done that, however.

Oh well. It doesn't really bother me at the end of the day. Wilson can go to UNC and score his 11 points per game with low efficiency playing under a coach who looks like his soul smells of rotten cow dung.

They just lost to wake forest so if he wants to join that mess have at it, more than glad to take him but if it’s all about the $$$$ find a portal guy who’ll be more productive and for our style better.
My favorite part was Caleb at one point in his recruitment saying he was waiting until January to see the teams play, especially in conference.

He apparently has not been watching the 12-8 Tarheels

I made this very point about finally nailing elite out of state talent and a certain someone blasted me for it leading to a 3 day blood feud. Arm yourself.

Why "and another center"? We likely will have 2 in Garrison and Moreno.
But if we lose out on both Ament and Wilson, then it looks like we will be bringing in 2 PFs from the portal (unless find some overseas guy)
Moreno seems to have lots of upside and will be a good player one day. Do you trust him as a freshman to take 15 to 20 minutes a game? I’ve only seen his highlights on YouTube. I’ve never seen him play a live game. I’m sincerely just asking. Is it a legit expectation for him to be able to come right in and give solid back up center minutes?

Exactly this is what I don’t understand. They are playing like garbage this year. UNC is likely to have a new coach next year. So he doesn’t even know what the situation is going to be.

Hubert will be back but even if he wasn't, the NLI basically means nothing anymore.
So no Hubert no Wilson for UNC.

This isn’t sour grapes or whatever the hell that saying is at all, but if we’re being honest Ament is better than Wilson. Now if kentucky even has a legit shot with ament or not is another question.

It's true though that most all championships have had NBA talent and we don't have this this season and need it next season.
Everything is different now with NIL and the transfer portal. We have just a 2-3 year history of this new era of college sports. I'm not sure how much if any NBA talent UT has, Bama maybe Stephenson, Auburn possibly Broome, does Iowa St have any, Florida maybe Condon.

Big difference in him and Carr.

Carr:
- progression all 4 years before UK, last 3 years double digit scorer, last 2 years at P5 school (WF)
- before UK Carr was 94-273 (34.4%) from 3
- made 40.5% 3pt his 2nd yr at Delaware in 42 attempts, then with step up to P5 and more 3's made only 31.1% in 106 attempts 1st yr at WF, improving to 37.1% in 97 attempts 2nd yr at WF

Bailey:
- has also had overall progression all 3 years, but has not played at a P5 yet
- has made 29.4% from 3, mostly due to over half (60) of his 109 attempts last yr made only 21.7%, currently at 45% this year (9-20)
- this year his 50% (8-16) is now down (but still very good) 45% (9-20). Almost HALF of his made 3's came in 2 games (2-2 & 2-3) just 8 days apart, the rest of the season he is 5-15 (33.3%).
- like Carr 2 yrs ago at WF, he would likely see a lower % made from playing better competition, as well if he starts attempting more than 1-1.5 per game

I'm not saying he is a "No", he's worth keeping an eye on, but he isn't a "must get" at this point.

We're UK we are what makes UK what it is today (THE FANS) and this is the best message board in America.... Prove me wrong........
Take off the blue glasses and read through a game thread once as though you were a recruit. You would not think highly of this fanbase. Caring is one thing but this site is what it is. I’m not going to lie for anyone, I’ll tell you the truth. Are there great fans here? Absolutely. Are there a serious amount of people who constantly berate the players to level that far exceeds disrespect, hate the athletic director with a burning passion and extrapolate every nuanced imperfection into a tirade about how we are literally the worst basketball team in the history of the known universe? There is a lot of that too. Want to see respected posters go at each other’s throats over trivial third rate issues that are entirely predicated on analyzing one part of a game differently? You got that a plenty as well. Is it a cool place for us fans? Absolutely. Would I want the team or recruits to know about it? Hell no.

Today's recruits don't give a rats rectum about message boards. It's about money and the coach, period.

I was fan of Avila and Coach Schertz (since his days at Lincoln Memorial). Avila transferred to St Louis with Coach Schertz. St Louis is currently 11-7 (4-1 A-10). Robbie Avila is averaging 18.3 ppg, 6.6 Reb, 4.3 Ast/2.9 TO on splits of 52.3/37.8/73.8

He would be very good here but again probably abused on defense.
