BYU's NIL money

Logan Aluminum doesn't sell their products directly to the public so they don't advertise.
You can't just look at a manufacturing facility in the state, you have to look at ownership and LA like Toyota and Ford are not ownership based in Kentucky.
It isn't just about direct selling to the public as much as it is showing the community that you invest in things they are interested in. It is all about demonstrating that you are a good neighbor and not just in the community to be a taker of available resources of the human type, plus huge tax breaks.

Biggest employer in Lexington is ? What about the horse industry big money floating around Lex in that dept also.

I'm sure their plant manager has an amount he can spend on community based things but it wouldn't rise to the level of an NIL contribution to UK.
What about WKU,'s NIL?
LA is 25 miles from their campus.
Like I said though NIL contribution is above a plant managers pay grade.
That call would have to be from Alcoa/ Alcan corporate.
I have no idea where they are based or even if they're American owned.

Well there is a lot of NIL money floating around the country and not all of these places have industry on a large scale selling directly to the public. It can't always be about where the corporate headquarter is located.

Kentucky has 7 million with just profit sharing alone for next year and had 5 million this past year without profit sharing. So who’s the real delusional troll that constantly posts about we have no NIL but has no facts to back it up? What a sad life “trust me be we have no money” he says to strangers on a message board for a month straight.
I doubt anyone outside of the Athletic Department knows if we have $2 Million or $20 Million. I bet we will have whatever it takes to build the squad we need.

I stated a few in an earlier post. In addition to what I previously posted, a third of the top 100 food processing companies are in Kentucky, UPS, Equine industry, and manufacturing.
I'd be happy to build on that foundation. Give me ten years, but I have a strategy to build a top 20 tech company. Kentucky needs to replace the void of IBM and both UK and Louisville, as a schools need to change that. AI revolution is here, and it's time for me to come back home to do something with it.

I can be your Chief Scientist. It would fit nicely with my electrical and system engineering degrees.

It’s strange that our fans keep comparing Kentucky’s season to Arkansas. Everyone wants to measure popes first year against Cal’s at Arkansas. But no one ever talks about BYU. They are thriving in pope’s absence and we are all just pretending it’s not happening. I’m not crapping on pope. I just think we may not be seeing the forest for the trees. It also proves that cal dominates the psyche of this fan base and he can’t retire soon enough.
True, and a lot of those guys were recruited to BYU by Pope. He wanted to bring Saunders with him (and I seem to remember most on here weren't too excited about that prospect, but hindsight, right?).

Kentucky was thriving when we were running Kriisa, Robinson, and a two armed Butler in place of the three freshmen and the current version of Butler. Still a top ten offense for most of the season in spite of all of the changing circumstances. We all want to go further, but every game from here on is at best a coin flip. That's just the reality (aka the place where many on here do not reside) of where we are and I've made peace with it. I hope we win because I can already tell the sharks on here (not you, but three or four others) smell the blood of a wounded team in the water and are ready to weaponize it and use it as negative recruiting against a good dude who stepped in when we needed him most and did everything he could to put this patchwork together after the previous guy bounced and left the cupboard bare like a thief in the night. He actually left Pope with less talent than The Drunk left Cal (Travis Perry vs. Miller, Patterson, Liggins, and Harrellson in particular who all proved to be key pieces on good/great teams).

The horse industry is the real money.

There’s millions from others ready to be spent on NIL.

But it pales in comparison to horse industry money available and there’s one man that everything must go through.

Well, it’s not a must. But you can be put on an island pretty quickly if you stray from the main channel.

I think having seen a year of UK in Pope’s system will be huge. Last year we had no chance to recruit high school kids and the portal players we did get came on faith. Now not only can you get NIL deals but it’s known it’s a fun system that can players can envision theirselves in.

Whats a good email for you (or DM me? I dont know how that works). I'm building this with other Kentucky folks.
I don't think my current employer would like me leaving just now. However, I do wish you well. I do want to get you my email in a more private way so that I don't start receiving emails from posters who don't always agree with my posts. By the way, I used to work for both LA and Corvette.

Revenue sharing is not a competitive advantage in paying players and has nothing to do with NIL. You don't even know the term. You're not going to convince me you understand the concept. And my posts are clearly not meant for you. You'd be best to just put me on ignore. My feelings won't be hurt a bit. See, that's because my life is really incredible. I don't need people to like what I have to say on the internet for my self-confidence. I have plenty of real people in my life that respect me.
I have been away from these boards for the last year and just came back for the tournament. I have to say, in the really short time that I've been back, I have come to the conclusion that you're either a troll or an insufferable gnostic who likes to hear himself talk. To paraphrase from that cinematic masterpiece Dr. Strange, do all of these people who think you're wonderful and clever work for you?

If that's the case, it would be donations to hospitals, higher learning, etc (which Toyota has done locally). Sports (unless it's Special Olympics) isn't going to be looked at by blue chip cos especially if not HQd in the state.

We'll always have Morgan and Morgan and Morgan and Morgan.

This is a perfect example of why having NIL money in college basketball, is all that really matters. Kentucky has to make sure we stay near the top of this.

But the majority of that money flows internationally or is held by Louisville fans in the form of CDI stock.

I don't think Notre Dame is really benefiting from church money. What they ARE benefiting from is a school that churns out far more millionaires than your average state school, and it also has an extremely rich fanbase.

That's what it's going to take. Someone or some people have to fund the program if we want it to succeed (unless Kentucky just decides a find a way to fund NIL internally).. what worries me is that KY is one the poorest states, with likely the fewest amount of multi-million dollar businesses. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we.might have a hard time keeping this program in the top of the NIL players.

That NIL + the NBA pedigree of Kevin Young combined with AJ Dybantsa already making it “cool” to the kids in school to go to BYU is a legitimate threat

I always thought AJ was gonna come here because of TC5. Wish it would’ve worked it. Unreal player.

NIL isn’t about corporate money. It’s not like Toyota or Fruit of the Loom or Humana or any publicly held company can start writing checks to entice athletes. What it takes is individual boosters wealthy enough to fund, repeatedly, NIL coffers. On one hand, that favors us - we have a fan base that’s crazy about basketball, which presumably includes some of those wealthy boosters. On the other hand…..it does not favor us. Small state, not a lot of different wealthy individuals boosters willing to give. We’re not Stanford.

Been saying this for a long time. All you need to do is remember that in CFB, they paid their Walk Ons enough NIL $ they were equal to a scholarship. BYU has so much $ it's insane but you have to abide by their rules/code of honor and are most people disciplined enough to do so--even for high price? We know that answer. But AJ Dybantsa and Xavion Staton are coming to next year's team too. Kevin Young is selling the NBA path and people will listen even more after this year's performance from him/their program. Got a feeling they'll be fine with winning and look past the Jim McMahon like culture that comes with it until someone at head of the school decides that it's time to return to the Faith based roots of the University. Until then....bring on the winning.
yep

Nothing in it for them.
It would also have to go through a lot of people to happen.
1 person at the company couldn't make the call to contribute to UK's NIL
Exactly. Kentucky Utilities is owned by PPL , a Pennsylvania company. No was in hell they’d allow KU to donate to UK’s nil . They spend there money on gay pride celebrations and such.
