Buzz Williams press conference video: "They're good enough to win the national championship."

Buzz was impressed, particularly with Amari Williams and his unique ability to run the offense. He says there is no other player like him in the nation.
Good stuff from a coach I respect.

I like listening to Williams discuss and dissect basketball as well as any coach I ever heard. Maybe it's because he communicates so well. The things he says seem to be a little more thoughtful and reflective. I think he and Pope may be the smartest coaches in the SEC (I admit a bias there, of course). And by smartest I don't mean necessarily the highest basketball IQ (which may or may not be true); just in the way they seem able to process information and communicate what the key takeaways from that are. Thanks for posting SOS.

I like Williams also. When he was at VaTech he had some veterans at practice and made an awesome speech to his players about the sacrifice that those guys made for all of us to have our freedoms. He then had his players to shake all of their hands. Also, he has an assistant that calls out a certain play during free throws for guys to try to get offensive rebounds. He is very similar to Pope.

I hate Buzz during games with the constant whining and griping at officials, fouling and calling the timeout late, etc., and just the fact that he intentionally turns every game into a rock fight drives me crazy.

BUT, I agree with you, I always find him super likable and respectable in press conferences and he always gives a ton of praise our way.

Last night he called Kentucky the greatest job in college sports. I agree Buzz!

Listening to his press conference last night was really insightful.

Dude is a great coach. He’s got a lot of energy/passion which can occasionally rub folks the wrong way, but his resume is nice.

Builds winning programs that can win a couple games in the dance.

Definitely agree with him. This team is special and hasn’t really peaked yet. If they improve defense and rebounding even slightly they are going to be hard to handle.

His comments about Amari cracked me up. It's just after the 7 minute mark. He's asked about him and he tells the reporter to hold on as he doesn't know the names, he only knows the numbers. And after a few seconds of trying to confirm just who Amari is, he blurts out "Oh I LOVE him!" That was hilarious.

Buzz must be lying. I got told that this team will finish 8th in the conference and we better be glad to take it 🤡

Obviously, we CAN win a title. We probably won’t but we have a puncher’s chance. We are flawed, but dangerous.

Thats one of the VERY few times I have ever heard compliments directed at UK WITH specific coach perspective feedback and evaluation

Honestly helpful to listen to if you don't understand basketball plays or coaching as well as you May with other sports (i get football much better)

Thanks for posting that - helped me understand my own team better than ever before

Enjoyed listening to him thoroughly break down this Kentucky team and Coach Pope from his assessment after the game and what he studied before in film prep. Also, very praiseworthy of the Pope and the Cats. He is spot on about Pope's coaching style with his team showing a lot of patience instead of being the yelling and berating from the sidelines.

Coach Williams is the real deal. He is my favorite member of the Aggie basketball team. Hope he stays a long, LONG time.
There seems to be some of our fans that doesn't like Buzz Williams. That I don't understand because he has always had nothing but positive things to say about UK basketball, especially now that Mark Pope is here.

I don’t understand it either, but y’all are the BBN and opinions are “known to vary” ;) . I really don’t understand the A&M fans that don’t like Coach Williams.

Maybe this is my bias, but basketball fans can watch football and not get torqued. Football fans watching basketball, not so much.

I think he is a very good coach. But I think a lot of it comes to style. Fans often (BBN too) want the fast pace high scoring style, even a flamboyant coach. Sendek not being that is much of why NC St fans chased him out of Raleigh when he was consistently getting to Sweet 16's.
